Hi everyone I couldnt find a thread for Collin college spring 2012 so I thought I would start one. Im so excited, this is actually my 3rd time applying but this time I raised my PSB score and retook 1 class. I know retaking a class is bad but I had to since I had a C, I now have an A in that class. My over all score is a 14. I heard all 15 and 16 got in last semester and some 14 I hope that I will be one of those 14! I know they consider a few other things like residency, where you took your classes, and your PSB score. I took most my classse at collin, live in collin and got a 6 on my PSB. Do you guys think I have a shot? I hope so! I cant wait, does anyone know when we get the letters? I think its the 1st or 2nd week of septembre but im not sure. Anyways Good luck everyone!
Hello! Congrats to all who got in to Collin for Spring!! I know its super competitive. I am shooting for Fall 2012. I just took the PSB yesterday, and I am really worried. The spelling was really off the wall. I felt like there were a ton I didn't know and couldn't even pronounce to sound them out ;P But I finished the section just making my best guess. The reading was super tough time wise (not content, that was easy). I sort of panicked and didn't get as many done as I would have liked (maybe finished 27 out of 40). I just wanted to ask those of you who got 6 out of 6 on the PSB, what did you think of those 2 sections? How far did you get? I don't want to freak out for the next 2 weeks thinking about this. I am just looking for some comparisons or something to put my mind at ease. I am maxed out on points for the other stuff with a 4.0, but I know some 15s still don't get in. I have put all my eggs in this basket. Sorry for the little freak out. I would soooo appreciate any advice you may have. Thanks!!!
I got a 100% on the spelling and around an 85% on the reading portion.
They only grade you on the things you actually answered. It is not graded like a traditional test. You are graded according to how you did compared to everyone else who takes the test. So how many you actually answered doesn't matter. How many you answered compared to everyone else and got correct does.

I felt the same way you did after taking the PSB! I felt like the spelling was off the wall, and I finished about the same amount of reading that you did, and was worried about that as well. It all turned out okay though, I ended up getting all 6 out of 6 points on the PSB and got my 16 points and I start the program in January! I wouldn't worry too much about it. You are given points based on if you scored higher than the average. So basically you have to score higher than the other people, which for me was not too difficult. I wouldn't worry too much about what you scored, because everyone I talked to after the test felt the same way I did. Goodluck with your fall application! :)
Hello everyone,
I am planning on enrolling in Spring 2012 to start on my pre-reqs for the AA program at Collin College. Question: I noticed for the Collin program there are 3 BIOL pre-req classes that require pre-reqs themselves - starting with BIOL 1406, to BIOL 2401, 2402, 2421. 2401, 2402, 2421 are required to apply, does this mean I can't apply until I finish all those BIO classes (after 4 semesters??) How long did it take for you to finish your pre-reqs to apply?
Thanks,
Aimee
I think you can still apply with Micro in progress (BIO 2421). They go on a point system to admit though so if you apply while talking Micro you give up one point. If you have all A's in your other prereqs and do well on your PSB though you should have 15 points which I heard is a good number to apply with. If you don't have at least 15 points, I've heard its very hard to get in. I plan to finish all my prereqs before I apply. I'm finishing up BIO 1406 this semester and doing AP1 in the Spring, AP2 in the summer, and Micro in the fall. I'm shooting for a Fall 2013 start date so I will have to apply Jan 2013.

I FINALLY got my letter today. I am waitlisted. I'm pretty sure I maxed out the points on the GPA side, but I don't know how I did on my PSB. Anyone know how many people usually get off the waitlist?
