Hi everyone I couldnt find a thread for Collin college spring 2012 so I thought I would start one. Im so excited, this is actually my 3rd time applying but this time I raised my PSB score and retook 1 class. I know retaking a class is bad but I had to since I had a C, I now have an A in that class. My over all score is a 14. I heard all 15 and 16 got in last semester and some 14 I hope that I will be one of those 14! I know they consider a few other things like residency, where you took your classes, and your PSB score. I took most my classse at collin, live in collin and got a 6 on my PSB. Do you guys think I have a shot? I hope so! I cant wait, does anyone know when we get the letters? I think its the 1st or 2nd week of septembre but im not sure. Anyways Good luck everyone!
Yes, tuition is the same. 1st and 3rd sem. you pay a $22 fee for Liability Insurance. There are lots of other up front expenses, though. The required uniform is about $100. Drug testing about $30. Books...lots of books maybe close to $900 if you buy all new ones. Shoes have to be all white. Stethoscope, BP cuff. The required skills pack is $150. Dr Ard will go over all of this in detail at orientation, but I hope this will help you get started. All of these expenses are probably common to every program. The low tuition make Collin such a wonderful "deal."
Hi asd96 thank you for the response are you in the program now? If you are can I bug you with another question... I'm super excited and want to go buy scrubs now haha I know we need white ones for clinical so I will wait on those but for everyday class do we get to wear whatever scrubs or are there requirements?
You don't have to wear scrubs for class. Classrooms are COLD so plan accordingly for that. Scrubs are really only worn for clinicals (as mentioned above, you have to order them from who the school tells you to) and for skills lab. I never even wore them for skills lab. I would just wear a lab coat over my regular clothing. If you buy shoes, they must be closed all the way around (no clogs) and closed completely across the top of the foot and solid. No mesh. No holes. etc. And the whole shoe has to be white.
Hey Everyone. Just wanted to say that I encourage all of you who were put on the wait list to go into the nursing office for an appointment to see where you stand. I went yesterday and they put me through as having only 13 points like I did the previous time I applied. They had not received my new transcript or my application for Spring even though I had HAND DELIVERED it to a certain person in the office. So I was not looked at as having 15 points like I do. The lady I met with (you are not allowed to use names on this message board so send me a personal message if you would like the names) actually told me that the girls she met with just before me had the same issue and the same secretary lost her application too so she didnt get in either. There is nothing that she can do about it now apparently so Monday I am going to go and try to get a meeting with the Director of the program because I was told this is happening way to often so apparently me and the other girl are not the first people it has happened to. I also would have made it into the program this time too if they didnt lose my paperwork because they accepted all 16's, all 15's and 3 people with 14's. Again, if you think this could of happened to you then send me a private message and I can give you more details about my situation along with the names of the people I have talked with and the person that lost my paperwork. I know a few of you said you were waitlisted with 15 points and since they all got in, I wanted to make sure you know this information since it could of happened to you or maybe you thought you had 15 but you didnt. I dont know but I just dont want this to happen to anyone else because it is just not right.
Hi! I have a question for those on this thread that are currently in the program.. I remember reading on an earlier thread somewhere that there is a med math test the first week, and they gave information on what book is used to prepare. Well, I am going crazy not being in school this semester, and wanted to maybe start preparing (I'm a nerd, I know. lol) If anyone could give me information about this I would really appreciate it!

You're welcome! She didn't say how she was going to notify everyone of the orientation, but I'm sure she'll either send an email or a new letter to everyone! Looking forward to the 21st!! :)
