Collin College spring 2012 Hopefuls

Published

Hi everyone I couldnt find a thread for Collin college spring 2012 so I thought I would start one. Im so excited, this is actually my 3rd time applying but this time I raised my PSB score and retook 1 class. I know retaking a class is bad but I had to since I had a C, I now have an A in that class. My over all score is a 14. I heard all 15 and 16 got in last semester and some 14 I hope that I will be one of those 14! I know they consider a few other things like residency, where you took your classes, and your PSB score. I took most my classse at collin, live in collin and got a 6 on my PSB. Do you guys think I have a shot? I hope so! I cant wait, does anyone know when we get the letters? I think its the 1st or 2nd week of septembre but im not sure. Anyways Good luck everyone!:nurse:

Oh gosh! This wait is going to kill me!!! :uhoh3:

This has felt like the slowest week EVER!!! I need to know!!! I was fine until Wednesday...then I started freaking out!! Oh man....!!

I got my letter today. I was put on the wait list AGAIN for this session. Fall I applied with 14 points and talked to the nursing adviser and she told me to retake a sociology class to raise my B to an A (which I did) and then retake A&P and bring that to an A (which I did) and she said that I would "pretty much be a shoe-in" with 15 points. But low and behold I was wait-listed again. It is honestly so frustrating that I had 15 out of 16 total points and I even had 5 out of 6 on the PSB but didnt get in. So needless to say, I will be up in the nursing office Monday morning finding out what happened and where I am on the wait list. Heres to more waiting and freaking out until I hopefully get a call to say that I am in! Good luck to the rest of you :)

I was placed on the waiting list. :crying2:

I'm sorry :( I'm not happy either. Do you mind sharing what your points were?

Sorry all :( Keep your chin up though. Usually 3-5 people from the wait list do ultimately get in.

Applications are skyrocketing lately. People who have prior degrees are considered before those who do not, along with those who live in county and took all pre-req's at Collin. And then next comes GPA/PSB. I am graduating this December. Most of us had a 6/6 on the PSB. But don't lose hope. Talk to the nursing office, find out the details - I think you will find getting in just gets a little harder each semester due to the number of applicants. It just all depends on who was applying along with you. Lots of high achievers = super tough to get your foot in the door. But as I mentioned, there are quite a few in my class (and those coming up behind me too) who were on the wait list and got in, mostly at the last minute.

Being NLN certified now along with partnering with TWU and another university (potentially) to allow students to go straight in to BSN with automatic acceptance also raises the application rates.

honestly, it's my fault that i am disappointed. i should have waited to apply after this semester. i made 5/6 on the psb (did not get the extra point for reading comp) and i had not completed micro at the time of application. i am taking micro now. so i applied with 14 points. the things i have on "my side" are a 4.0 gpa, i have not had to re-take any classes, all supporting classes are complete, all classes have been taken at collin college, and i live in collin county. it would be great to be called off of the waiting list, and i will do what the letter says i need to do to retain my position on the waiting list, but if i do not receive a call, i will apply again for fall 2012. i will feel more confident with 15/16 points (since micro will add a point to my total). i am still kicking myself for making 5 instead of 6 points on the psb… :grn:

hi everyone i got my letter too and i was accepted! the letter did say that i had 15 points when i thought i only had 14! so i’m very excited. for all the people who didn’t get in... reapply!!! it was my 3rd time applying i retook 1 class to make it from a c to and a and retook the psb from a 5 to a 6!

Congrats to you for making it! :yeah: Does the letter say when you have to accept or deny by?

Hey All....Got my letter today as well - the mail did not come until 5:30 and it almost killed me. I to thought I had 14 points but actually had 15 and got in (my micro was in progress when I applied)! I hope to see some of you at orientation. I was told that for the fall admission they did have quite a few people who made it in from the wait list.
