Hey everyone I haven't seen a forum for this one yet and decided to create one.

Most hospitals are still requiring Covid vaccines. You have to have it. The schools aren't requiring it but in order for you to go to clincals you have to have it
@SaltedPineapple, yes, that has been the case. However, on Feb 6, 2024 a new policy went into affect - employers (including healthcare facilities) in Texas can no longer require the Covid vaccine. They can require those unvaccinated to wear protective gear. I'm wondering if anyone has heard new information pertaining to this.

You will be a guest of the facility, not an employee, so the requirements may be different.

You're a guest at the hospital. Depending on what the clincal site says if you have to have then you have too. No ifs ands or buts about it. They will also have the right to remove you from the premises if you are non compliant.

They can force it if you are a nursing student doing clincals there. If you're an employee that's different. Matter of fact the school is just going to take you out of the program for being non compliant.

No, they cannot, it's still illegal according to the new law. The school kicking you out, can be sued as well. It's states ANY entity cannot deny or force the vaccine. As students, we are still "employees", we are working under their licenses, under their insurance, using supplies and etc. even if we are considered guest as someone else mentioned...does the hospital make every guest show vaccine cards upon arrival and turn them away from visiting loved ones, if they are not? No.
@SaltedPineapple I am trying to understand what is considered compliant for nursing students under this new law. I don't think anyone here is trying to get away with being non-compliant. Clearly that would not work out well for the student.
@Nurse J do you work in a hospital setting? I would assume this policy extends to nursing students, but I haven't heard definitively. I thought it was interesting that COVID-19 vaccination status was asked on the nursing application, especially on light of the new policy. That is what prompted my question.

Yes they can LOL I'm not reading all of that.
