Collin College Fall 2015 ADN

Published

Hello everyone! I was looking for a thread for Fall 2015 for Collin, and didn't see one, so if there already is one, please share the link. Otherwise, welcome to this thread! I am a pre-nursing student and I am about to take the PSB and put in my application for Fall. Who's with me?

I am super nervous, but so very ready to get going with it.

Let the waiting game begin! Did anyone apply anywhere else besides Collin?

I'm curious about A&P1. It seems that many of the people on these boards have straight A's. More power to you. But when I took A&P1 at Collin, I made a B and my grade was the highest in the class. About half the class failed. So I'm curious how so many others have A's in that course. It may be that my professor was just a very hard grader or maybe the class had a lot of people who were not so academically inclined. Any thoughts? Did anyone who made an A in A&P1 take it at Collin. If so, who was your professor? Thanks.

The first time I took A&P 1 was in 2012 with Christian Doumen and I made a C. I didn't take school seriously at the time and wasn't even sure what I wanted to do in life, so that is partially the reason for the grade. It was also hard to follow his lecture because he had an accent, and talked really fast. His tests didn't seem to correlate with his lectures either, so I always barely passed.

The second time I took A&P 1 was in 2014 with Scott Brown and I made an A. I love Brown! He is one of my favorite professors! I took him for A&P 2 also and made an A. He talked really fast too, but he would slow down if a student asked. I found it easier to record his lecture and lab.

Who did you have?

I can't speak to your class experience, but I found A&P 1 to be easier than 2. I also don't know how the class did, but I made an A and I had Ofuoku over the summer at Collin. I spent every possible moment studying, taking pictures of the models, reviewing those, asking questions, etc. I have found that some professor are harder graders than others and if that's the case you have to figure out what it is that they want and do it. Some are sticklers on spelling, some require you to do written responses word for word what was said. (This is happening to me in micro right now). I have heard that A&P 1 is the dream crusher class, so I was totally geared up for serious difficulty. It makes me sad that so many people failed your A&P1 class - it sounds like you had a strict grading issue.

I haven't applied anywhere else yet, but I may be applying to NCTC for the Fall if I don't get into Collin. They accept apps for Fall May-June, so I will know before I apply. I considered El Centro but it's pretty far away from me.

Hi! Thank you for starting this thread. I am an older student who loves learning and returned to school (Collin) a few years ago. Although I received a 6 on the PSB and have A's in everything except for a B in A&PI I think I will only end up with 28 points. I figure worst case scenario I will take a few of the honor courses over the summer to bump my points up and reapply then. Good luck to you all. I wish you all the best!

Just received my PSB score and I am relieved to say that I got all 6 points! I really thought I failed the reading comprehension section! But it was my second highest score (:

Does anyone know how we will be notified if we have been accepted into the program? Acceptance letters for TWU are already being sent out.

I'm not sure, I wound think end of this month, first week of April.

Okay so here's my story if you guys don't mind giving me some guidance!

I currently work for a pediatric ophthalmologist (for the past 4 years) and a cardiologist before that. I have been going to school on & off since high school, I'm 24 now. I have been seriously been thinking about buckling down and trying to get in to the nursing program at Collin. Unfortunately for me, I have taken many classes but not any science until this semester, I am taking Bio 1406 currently. I intend to take A&P 1 over the summer and A&P2 along with Micro in the fall, apply, get in & be able to start the program in January 2016. Is this even likely? I read online that you must apply by July 31 for spring entry. I will not have all my preqs done by then nor my PSB. Does that mean I would just have to wait & apply that following fall? :(

Thanks in advance! :)

You will have to have your prerequisites and PSB completed by the deadline, so yes you will have to wait and apply for Fall 2016

I spoke with the Nursing School office and they informed me that the letters to notify of application status will be mailed out by the end on March. I was hoping to have a more concrete date than that, but that is what I was told!
