Collin College ADN Spring 2016

Published

Hello everyone. I have been searching for a Collin College Nursing applicants for spring 2016 thread for weeks and I have not seen one so I figured I would start one my self: ) I will be turning in my application for the program this week and I wanted to share my story. I made A's in all my sciences. I made an A in English and a B in humanities, general psychology and life span psychology. I made a 6 on the PSB as well. I will be applying with 27 points because of the 3 B's I made in humanities and the psychology classes. Because I will only be applying with 27 points I am apprehensive about getting in. I have worked so hard and come so far for this moment, I will just have to give it to God. I've only taken my sciences once, which is good according to the nursing department as they are really factoring acceptance into the program based on taking your sciences once (they told me studies show those who take their sciences once and get an A the first time tend to do better in the program). However, I hope it's enough. I have children, I work full time and it took everything in me to get A's in my sciences and a 6 on the PSB. On the old point system I would be applying with 16 points (I know I need to get over it). I have been following the allnurses site for about a year and a half and I have had the opportunity to share in many wonderful experiences. Most of you that have posted had 4.0's and I've seen the joy you express when you get that acceptance and I am so happy for you all. I hope there is someone out there that applied and got in with similar applying factors and if so, wouldn't mind posting. I'd love to hear from anyone who will be applying or has applied for the Spring 2016 start and what your stats look like. Please do share. Best wishes to you all.

Theuberjc that is the best thing we can do, wait on and trust in God. I did receive word the letters will definitely be going out this week. Only a short period of time before we know, how exciting is that! I told my children last night that I will be getting the letter soon and they all got excited. I was originally planning on opening it with just my husband but the kids really, really, really want to be present when I open the letter, so my new plan is to open it up as a family. I am so thankful for my children (even though they drive me nuts from time to time lol) because they have so much faith in me and they are huge supporters of me and this nursing journey. If I hear anything else I'll be sure to let you all know. Have a wonderful day everybody.
Theuberjc, when will you hear back from TWU? Their Deadline just passed right? I know they send out communication regarding acceptance via email (which is nice lol). I also heard that you don't get any correspondence from them if you don't get in though (which is not nice lol). Based on your GPA it seems like you have a good shot with getting accepted. If you get two acceptances, which will you choose?

So excited and nervous at the same time! Come on letter!! Praying we all get the good news! I hope we all get in!!! God's will and his timing is always perfect. Even if it's not the news I want to hear I pray that I can remember that. However, I am believing I got in!!!

Amen msqtsmith! His will and timing is always perfect and I don't want to forget that. I too am believing that I got it. It looks like you will find out you got in before your trip to NYC which means you and hubby will be able to celebrate...yay!

@mylife7: That's great!! It's a big news for your family, too! My biggest supporter is my older sister, who was able to get her ADN at collin and eventually graduated BSN at Texas Tech. She's now an ICU nurse in Baylor Dallas. I've also been checking TWU lately. I've been checking my email every chance I get lol. TWU really is my dream school. They announced that letters will be out by next week too. Honestly I would really love to go to TWU, since it's only 5 minutes away from Baylor Dallas. This means my sister and I can just drive around that area together (as of now we can't afford to get a separate apartment from our parents). And the fact that I can get BSN in two years is also a plus. I'd choose Collin only for financial reasons, and it's closer home. But we'll see..whatever God has for me I will go with that! (: I know eventually everything will work out..

@msqtsmith: Amen, I'm the same as well! I hope all of us get the acceptance!

Theuberjc TWU is a great school. My friend was accepted into their Nursing Program and this is her second semester. She made B's in all her sciences had a GPA of 3.57 and made an overall 89 or 90 on her TEAS V and she got it. You have a good TEAS score and a 4.0 GPA so you have a great chance of getting in. It's exciting to know that you will know your status with both schools around the same time. Be sure to let us know both. I wanted to apply to TWU as well but I didn't want to take Chemistry and Micro together which is the only other class I needed. My cousin lives in Oklahoma and she's an LPN and just got accepted into Nursing school in her home town yesterday, how exciting for her. My mother in-law in an RN and she's been one for over 20 years and she is a constant encouragement which inspires me even more to be a nurse. My mother recently had to undergo unexpected open heart surgery. My family and I were so scared but thankfully she made it out safely and is recovering. The surgery was at Presby Plano and she was in the hospital for nearly 2 weeks, I barely left her side. The nurses there were phenomenal! They were so compassionate, kind and caring. Being there with her in the hospital around so many great nurses further signified how much I really want to be a nurse. Becoming a nurse for me will not be my job title, it will be how I live, a way of life, a lifestyle. Striving and making every effort to put others first ALWAYS.

Uggg. I got an email from my apartment that a package had arrived. I was excited and nervous to see it was from Collin. It was just an AS in Science degree for general studies. This anticipation is killing me.

I'm sorry, I would have felt the same way Kristinka6. I wonder if they've sent the letters? I wanted to call today to see if they had been sent, and if not what day they plan on sending them this week but I was too scared to call lol. Hopefully, it will be by tomorrow so we can get them before next week.

I called yesterday and they said the letters were going out next week as if not mailed yet. At this point I think they are just saying anything to get us off the phone.

msqtsmith, I think they're just providing general information. My classmate spoke with the Nursing recruiter who told her the letters will defintely be going out this week. In fact, the secretary told her within the next 2 weeks and then she asked to be transferred to the recruiter who then provider her with more precise information, this was Monday.

Good morning everyone! I called the Nursing Department this morning and spoke to the receptionist who told me letters will not got out until sometime next week. After doing a little research on this site, over the past several years letters for the Spring applicants have always gone out before the end of September and letters are generally received before October 5th. At the very earliest, letters may go out on Monday October 5th. I am not sure what's going on or what may have changed but the only thing we can do is wait. I am tempted to call the nursing recruiter and ask her if this is true but I don't want to bug her lol. I will have a busy weekend so I will be a little distracted (which is a good thing) lol. I hope you all are finding ways to stay busy, I know my post doesn't help so please forgive me.
