Collin College ADN Spring 2016

Published

Hello everyone. I have been searching for a Collin College Nursing applicants for spring 2016 thread for weeks and I have not seen one so I figured I would start one my self: ) I will be turning in my application for the program this week and I wanted to share my story. I made A's in all my sciences. I made an A in English and a B in humanities, general psychology and life span psychology. I made a 6 on the PSB as well. I will be applying with 27 points because of the 3 B's I made in humanities and the psychology classes. Because I will only be applying with 27 points I am apprehensive about getting in. I have worked so hard and come so far for this moment, I will just have to give it to God. I've only taken my sciences once, which is good according to the nursing department as they are really factoring acceptance into the program based on taking your sciences once (they told me studies show those who take their sciences once and get an A the first time tend to do better in the program). However, I hope it's enough. I have children, I work full time and it took everything in me to get A's in my sciences and a 6 on the PSB. On the old point system I would be applying with 16 points (I know I need to get over it). I have been following the allnurses site for about a year and a half and I have had the opportunity to share in many wonderful experiences. Most of you that have posted had 4.0's and I've seen the joy you express when you get that acceptance and I am so happy for you all. I hope there is someone out there that applied and got in with similar applying factors and if so, wouldn't mind posting. I'd love to hear from anyone who will be applying or has applied for the Spring 2016 start and what your stats look like. Please do share. Best wishes to you all.

Ok great. My job requires organization. Although I am LVN I have been fortunate to get in corporate so I am over compliance/auditing etc. Which requires deadlines, flexibility, and changes. Most nurses in any capacity should know that's the ever changing environment you are in as a nurse. So I should be fine. Thanks for the updates and a great idea of what to expect so we are all prepared. As far as the information I got regarding the letters I actually spoke to the head nursing recruiter. The receptionist passed me on to her and she is who said it would be October. Again I am sure it could be earlier. I am just going to focus on knowing it will be October so I won't spend the entire month looking for it.

Yes that's great encouragement!! Thanks!

Hi guys!

Ive applied to the spring 2016 program as well but im very unsure if im going to get in. I got A's in all my prereqs (A&P 1/2, Microbio & other classes like psych 1/2, humanities, english 1/2) but I have not taken any honors classes (I honestly didnt know about those being included in the point system) and i only got 4/6 on the PSB (Yikes!) I dont know how I did so bad...I was so shocked after I got my results. So that means I have a total of 28/34 points :/ What do you think my chances of getting in are?

Also, I know that they will consider you more if you have a Bachelor's degree, but what about an Associates degree of Science?

Hi springg2016, welcome to the thread. I think you have a good chance of getting in. I was told by the nursing recruiter that they changed the points system last year to allow students such as yourself a better opportunity to get into the program. I know of a couple people who got in with 4's and 5's on the PSB (along with A's in their pre req). As far as having a previous degree it does not increase your chances of getting into the program. The nursing recruiter informed me over the summer that those who have degrees do not get any further consideration into the program. I called up to the school last week and was told the committee had not met and it will likely be end of September to 1st week of October when letters are sent out (I was initially told something different but things are constantly changing). I am content with the wait, after all, I don't want them to rush the decision making. I hope for nothing but the best for you all and please keep us posted. msqtsmith thank you for letting s all know about the deadline you were provided. springg2016 when did you take the PSB?

Thank you mylife7! I feel a little better knowing that people with a low PSB score got in. :/

Oh really, I'm shocked! I always heard that applicants with a bachelor's had a higher chance of getting in. I actually know someone who applied to a nursing program for the second time (but with a bachelor's this time) hoping to get in. That's sad news, I guess things change :/ And to answer your question, I took the psb july 14

I hope we find out soon, I am super ready:dead:

October is forever away..

Hi Blindsayyyy, welcome to the thread.I hope the time flies by quickly. I have been following this site for about a year and a half and I love reading all the success stories and I hope to be one of them in the next couple of weeks :nailbiting:. If you don't mind me asking, how are your grades, what did you score on the PSB and do you live in Collin County? For everyone else on this thread, do you live in Collin County?

I have A's in all my sciences, but I have a C in psychology since I took it like 6 years ago and I wasn't really serious about school.. I made 4/6 on the PSB but that lady told me at least the sections I scored points on where the important ones.. I live in Dallas:) but I work in Plano and McKinney so I would already be used to the drive... I only applied with 25 points.. But hopefully I will get in!! If not I am accepted as an alternate at another school.. So we shall see. How about you? @

Making A's in your sciences is tough. I wish you nothing but the best! I made A's in all my sciences. I made an A in English and a B in humanities, general psychology and life span psychology. I made a 6 on the PSB as well. I am not happy about the B's I made in those classes and I took them online which was tough. However, at the time the points system was different and I would be applying with all possible points if they had not changed it. I am hopeful and have faith that all will work out as God has planned. Please keep us posted.

And of course it feels like this month is going by super slow!!

Does anyone know how many total applicants there were? And also how many people will be admitted
