Collin College ADN Spring 2016

Published

Hello everyone. I have been searching for a Collin College Nursing applicants for spring 2016 thread for weeks and I have not seen one so I figured I would start one my self: ) I will be turning in my application for the program this week and I wanted to share my story. I made A's in all my sciences. I made an A in English and a B in humanities, general psychology and life span psychology. I made a 6 on the PSB as well. I will be applying with 27 points because of the 3 B's I made in humanities and the psychology classes. Because I will only be applying with 27 points I am apprehensive about getting in. I have worked so hard and come so far for this moment, I will just have to give it to God. I've only taken my sciences once, which is good according to the nursing department as they are really factoring acceptance into the program based on taking your sciences once (they told me studies show those who take their sciences once and get an A the first time tend to do better in the program). However, I hope it's enough. I have children, I work full time and it took everything in me to get A's in my sciences and a 6 on the PSB. On the old point system I would be applying with 16 points (I know I need to get over it). I have been following the allnurses site for about a year and a half and I have had the opportunity to share in many wonderful experiences. Most of you that have posted had 4.0's and I've seen the joy you express when you get that acceptance and I am so happy for you all. I hope there is someone out there that applied and got in with similar applying factors and if so, wouldn't mind posting. I'd love to hear from anyone who will be applying or has applied for the Spring 2016 start and what your stats look like. Please do share. Best wishes to you all.

I am not sure, but I got accepted at TCC today so if I get accepted at Collin I will give up my spot. Good luck to everyone :)

Thanks :)

Yes TCC was my first choice! Well after el centro, but el centro is just too hard to get into, I gave up hope on that... I live in Grand Prairie so TCC is not too far. Collin is about an hour away.. And Weatherford as well. I will deff let yall know:) hope we find out sooner than later

Thanks for that info. From what I see on here every semester its at least 200+ applicants. So who knows all we can do is hope for the best. I prayed about it and if I am supposed to be in I will. No worries!! Congrats on getting into TCC!

Amen msqtsmith! I prayed about it too. I just heard that letters won't go out until the 1st week of October and I am content with that. Honestly, it's a little exciting. What are you all doing to help with the wait?

I am just working and taking care of the family! I'm busy enough to not have to think on it so much lol. However I can't wait until October for more reason than one. I am going to NYC with the hubby for the first time Oct 16th so it would be great to celebrate getting in!!

msqtsmith I am sure you will find out before that and be able to celebrate in NYC with hubby. I believe you will get it.

Hello all,

I just called the Nursing Dep't and was informed they have already met for decisions and letters will go out next week. Anxiety kicking in! Good luck everyone!

OMg! OMg! OMg! I am freaking out lol. Thank you so much Kristinka6 for sharing. I am overwhelmed right now.

Kristinka6 did you call them this morning? Someone called yesterday and they didn't have any information.

Yes I called this morning.

I just want to take a moment and wish all you nothing but the best and many blessings. No matter what happens in the next week or so, I pray that we all keep fighting and not give up on our dreams or become complacent. For me personally, becoming a nurse is something I've been wanting to do since I was 16 and I am 30 now. After 5 kids and obstacles thrown my way I've determined by the grace of God I will keep working towards my dreams and show my children that anything is possible if you just work for it. I hope you all have a wonderful week and try not to let your nerves get too bad lol.

thank you for the encouragement mylife7! Amen to everything you said. Never give up on the things you desire. God knows every single one of them, and though the road may not be easy, keep pressing on anyway! I was heartbroken when I first received my first rejection letter. But later on I learned how to wait on God. I was only 18 when I applied the first time, and I knew I'd go crazy and quit if God had let me get into nursing school that time. It's all in the timing! :) No matter how long..
