Has anyone had any experience attending Nursing school at College of the Mainland in Texas City, Texas? I have looked at thier pass rates with the state. How is the program there? Any advice on application/ acceptence?

Hello, has anyone else on here gotten accepted into the Spring 2011 program? I got my letter a few weeks back and I am currently working on the checklist. Orientation Dec 3rd. Very excited to start the program, but not so excited to drive from Katy. If anyone has an idea of what time a typical class would start and then what time is the latest class ends that would be very helpful! I am thinking of renting a room down there 3-4 nights a week and drive back to my family on the weekends only, if anyone has insight on this that would also be great. Thanks all.

Hello, I recently got my acceptance letter into College of the Mainlands Spring 2011 ADN program. I am planning on getting an apartment near the school in either Texas City or League City and I was hoping to meet other people also accepted into the Spring 2011 program interested in finding an apartment as well as I am looking for a room mate! I am planning on meeting people at the orientation in December but if i can find someone sooner that would be great! The rent at the apartment im looking at runs about $500/month at the Haven at South Shore apartments. If anyone is interested in finding out more let me know!

Hi guys! I got accepted too (and am looking for a room mate too!). Britlauren, I sent you a private message!

I found an apartment (but it's in Kemah) for $900 (2 br/2bath) and w/ a one year lease, the first two months of rent are 1/2 off!

I tried looking at Costa Mariposa right behind COM but they didn't have any 1 brs available. They have 2 brs available so if you're interested, we can talk!

Britlauren: I messaged you my number!

Can't wait to meet everyone!

Congrats to you both, there are some somewhat large houses on the canals down there that are also for rent from 1000 and up but split between 2-4 people it shouldnt be so bad! Those places are set up for rentals too usually with pull out beds and such. Not sure what you all are looking for, but check that out too. I am only looking for a place for a maximum of three nights a week, and I may have found it with a friend of a friend, not sure yet though! December 3rd should be exciting.

Congrats to you too, Jimboslice!

I'm not familiar with where the "canals" are, lol. Sorry! Could you give me a little more info please? But like britlauren, I'm hoping to move before the orientation. Who knows, maybe I'll find potential room mates here! :)

I feel ya on the drive. I live in Sugar Land. haha!

Thanks! congratulations to you too!

Kstar I got your message and thanks! It wouldnt let me email you back so ill just send you a text!

Canals are basically just homes on the water that a lot of folks use as rental properties. Check out har.com and look for residental leases then type in search criteria like zip code, price, size, ect... I found a few that are nice and would be as much as a apt. when split between a few people! Good look and I also look forward to meeting you both at orientation. Lets ace these classes!

Has anyone been able to get a hold of the book list for our first semester? I see that they still have the Fall 2010 list on the COM bookstore's website and I wanted to try and get a head start by ordering them online.

Thanks!

They are redoing the website for COM, I am trying to apply to the fall 2011 program. Can anyone tell me what to do for the application process?

I will see if I can find the correct link and post it here for you.

Also it is a 2 step process if you are not already registered for classes at CoM. If your not registered at CoM, this is your first step. start here : http://www.com.edu/admissions/applying-to-com.php

It looks like they do not have the nursing application link up yet as I know they just changed the website. This should be fixed soon I would hope. Good luck and it is a great choice of schools!

Great, thanks!
