College of the Canyons Spring 2016

Published

Hi everyone!

This might be a little too early for a thread like this, but I submitted my online application for the spring at COC and I'm so anxious yet excited!

Anyone else here already go ahead and do that? What's everyone's stats who's applying?

I have been studying for the TEAS since May, and it feels so real now that my application is in!

lets get this thread going :)

I haven't called because I'm pretty sure they're just going to quote the dates on the website. I am curious though as to how many points current and prior students in the program had. During an information session, I believe one of the counsellors said around 60 is competitive, and they rarely ever see close to a full 100.

I honestly believe that's because their point system is so weird! They give out points weirdly and their ranges on percentages to points is very odd. And the fact that they only give points for overall teas is weird too.

I remember when I moved to California in June and I met with the counselor there, she had to review my courses because I was out of state and she said 3.0 overall and 3.0 science is considered competitive but teas scores are also weighted more than overall GPA. And she sounded like they don't even use their own point system lol. That's why I'm so confused

She told you the TEAS has more influence than overall GPA? That sounds so backwards

Yeah, right? Because my concern when I went to see her is that I have 4.0 Bio but my overall is 3.0 because I was a stupid freshman back in my first year of college, and I told her I was concerned about how that would affect me and then she told me that about the TEAS!

So that's why I worked my butt off reviewing for it, haha.

It's not only 5 lottery spots unless something has change. Whoever mentioned that where did you get your info? The top 30 students get in and after they are out of the equation the next top students are put into a lottery. Not sure how many actually get put into that lottery.

This is what I was told by a nursing counselor. She said only few spots are lottery

Guys, after this weekend we can possibly know any day about admission decisions! 😱 #anxiety

(at least going by the dates on their timeline)

Days are going by way too slow. I really hope they just send them Monday so we can relax a little.

Agreed! I mean, they've had over a week since the TEAS there, so they've had to been working on that stuff all this week..I hope

Are they going to be open Monday, considering the Columbus Day holiday?

Coc doesn't get that holiday off
