College of the Canyons Spring 2016

Published

Hi everyone!

This might be a little too early for a thread like this, but I submitted my online application for the spring at COC and I'm so anxious yet excited!

Anyone else here already go ahead and do that? What's everyone's stats who's applying?

I have been studying for the TEAS since May, and it feels so real now that my application is in!

lets get this thread going :)

I really hope they don't leave us hanging this time with the deadlines again.... I just might start drinking

😔🍻

For real though! I saw that last year they got them on the 16th so I'm like.. Okay, 10 days then I can either celebrate or curl up in the fetal position and reevaluate all my life choices haha

yes, this is very stressful. Well you are better positioned than i am but i hope to barely make it :)

yes, i feel like time should just move one week ahead lol. Do you know if we are going to get an email saying that we are eligible for the selection or just the acceptance or denial email?

Emails will be sent either way.

If you were invited to take the TEAS then you were eligible. As long as you passed the TEAS you are still eligible.

Okay, I passed. Not the best score but passed

Only those that were eligible were invited to take the TEAS so as long as you passed you are fine. I'm pretty sure it's a raffle from here. The website says it's a point system and raffle. So if you had enough points you got to take the TEAS and whomever qualifies from there gets put into a raffle. That's my guess.

No, it's Pont system. Whoever gets more points is in. There are 5 spots who are raffle

Oh well I like that better. I also applied to pierce college and their whole program is based on lottery.

Is their point system accurate though? I mean I know California has a multi criteria system for nursing but COC is the only school I've seen who's selection points diverts from that SO much even down to the fact where you don't get points for individual sections of the TEAS.. Which doesn't seem right almost. Every other program I've looked into does that in some way

There are only 5 lottery spots? I agree thats good news for those with better stats but I was always under the impression it was half and half.

Has anyone called the office or gotten an approximate of when emails are sent out? I know the status update email said mid October but I'm not feelin' the vagueness haha
