Anyone applying to COC Nursing program Fall 2016?

Yes, hoping I am lucky #7! I will call again next week. I hate calling because I feel like such a bother! I am crossing my fingers that I get called first!

Hello again! I'm currently #4 on the waitlist for Micro 221 for summer semester. I was wondering if I go and crash if I have a good chance of getting the class? How does the waitlist process work? TYIA :)

Just crash it. Keep going until you get a spot or they tell you not to come back. I think you have a good chance being #4. Good luck!

What Micro 221 professor do you guys all recommend? TYIA :)

@yellow I didn't take micro at COC so I can't give you a personal opinion, but I always found ratemyprofessor.com to be an excellent reference!

I just finished my 3rd semester at COC. We cover pharmacology through out the whole program so I dont know if the pharmacology class is needed, lab interpretation class might be helpful.

I just finished my 3rd semester and we cover pharmacology throughout the whole program. I don't know how necessary it is to take before hand. The interpretation of lab tests, that I am not sure. I don't know what they cover. Again it is stuff that we cover in the program. Do you have any background in the medical field? The first semester is tough. You are there practically all day in the pharm lab and lecture. There is a lot of material, but they make sure you know it. All of the professors are great.

Congrats!! You will love the program. I just finished my 3rd semester. One more to go for me. A little insight, the first semester is tough. You will be there 5 days a week for the first 8 weeks. Skills day are about 6-7 hours long. And you will feel like your head will explode. The second 8 weeks it gets a little shorter, depending on the hospital you may go 2 days a week or 1 12 hour day. Its alot of information to take in, but all of the teachers want you to succeed and they are great. Just really practice in the skills lab because there are alot of practicums you have to pass before going to the hospital and it is very intimidating. Do you know who you have?

I am so nervous for first semester!! Was it nonstop studying outside of class?

um I wouldn't say it was non stop studying. A lot of what you learn first semester is hands on in the skills lab. I would definitely find a study partner or study group to work with once a week. J.ust take everything in strides and try not to get stressed

Hi guys! I am commenting to let you know that after attending Santa Monica College's RN program orientation today I have decided to attend their RN program. It was so nice talking to you guys on this forum and I wish you all the best of luck in nursing school! Alternates rejoice, another spot has just opened up! :)

Best of luck to you! I am at least #6 now!
