  1. I am registered for classes! We start so soon!! I am getting more and more excited (also nervous).
  2. Have you already registered for classes? My registration time isn't until 8/1. I am in the Thurs/Fri clinical section.
  3. I am so nervous for first semester!! Was it nonstop studying outside of class?
  4. I took the fire safety class at COC and it was $59. The CPR is separate and is not offered at COC so you will need to find a place to take the class. I paid $60. They were both great classes and the time went by quick. As for the BSN programs...I am planning on doing a concurrent program. My dream is to work at a hospital, so I know I need to get my BSN. I feel it will be really hard to get a good nursing job with just an ADN unfortunately I want to get the schooling completed ASAP so I can start working! I am considering the program at Concordia...It would mean driving to Irvine once a week, but I have a couple friends who graduated from there and they said it is an amazing program and they have great jobs now (one of them works at CHLA!) At the orientation it sounded like they would be giving us a lot more information about BSN programs throughout the first and second semester. I don't think we need to stress too much right now, especially since most we would be applying for during the second semester.
  5. I am thinking of taking the lab interpretation and pharmacology class since they are highly recommended, though unfortunately it would mean quitting my job 2 months earlier since it would interfere with my work schedule. I am hoping they give us more information on the importance of the classes on Friday? Do you think these are important to take? Any current or graduating students have feedback on whether these are necessary? These are the 2 classes they emailed us about today NURSNG 061 INTERPRETATION OF LABORATORY TESTS NURSNG 215 PHARMACOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES
  6. I am speaking with a nursing counselor next Monday, but I am trying to decide between doing the dual BSN program or doing an RN-MSN program after graduating. Does anyone know which is a better option?
  7. I emailed them and they said we didn't need to bring any materials. I'm going to bring a lunch haha I assume we will get a lunch break.
  8. You probably won't hear anything until the fall, so I wouldn't stress over checking your email everyday. You can email the department and ask them when acceptance letters will go out. I applied in December and didn't hear back until March which was when all the acceptance letters went out for Fall 2016 class.
  9. Haha how funny! I have never been to campus before so I'm not sure where that is. I will meet you in the classroom as I want to be on time and don't know where I am going! Excited to meet you :)
  10. I called and they said that the classes start June 20 and are Tuesdays 2-4 and Thursdays 2-5:45 for the remainder of summer.
  11. I just signed up! I will see you Saturday. I have red hair and my name is Laura :)
  12. On the orientation checklist it says welcome/introduction and hepatitis video. Is this on canyon for us to do prior to orientaiton? I don't see it so I am guessing we are doing this at orientation?
  13. thanks for the information! i might try to make it to the financial aid office this week as well. it is hard since i work 8-5 M-F right now!!
  14. I emailed the program director and this is what she said accreditation at the ADN level will not impact you getting into BSN programs or in getting a job (except at the VA which doesn't hire ADN graduates anyway) . ADN accreditation is not an expectation of ADN programs. What is important is that the BSN program has nursing accreditation. Also, if I already have a Bachelors do I need to fill out the FAFSA? I think that I am going to have to take out private loans instead? Does anyone know about this?
  15. Did COC help at all with job placement? I was reading that GCC helps with job placement, job board, interview tips, letters of rec, etc, and am wondering if COC is helpful with this as well? Have most of your classmates found jobs since graduating?
