College of the Canyons Fall 2016
I took the fire safety class at COC and it was $59. The CPR is separate and is not offered at COC so you will need to find a place to take the class. I paid $60. They were both great classes and the time went by quick. As for the BSN programs...I am planning on doing a concurrent program. My dream is to work at a hospital, so I know I need to get my BSN. I feel it will be really hard to get a good nursing job with just an ADN unfortunately I want to get the schooling completed ASAP so I can start working! I am considering the program at Concordia...It would mean driving to Irvine once a week, but I have a couple friends who graduated from there and they said it is an amazing program and they have great jobs now (one of them works at CHLA!) At the orientation it sounded like they would be giving us a lot more information about BSN programs throughout the first and second semester. I don't think we need to stress too much right now, especially since most we would be applying for during the second semester.

College of the Canyons Fall 2016
I am thinking of taking the lab interpretation and pharmacology class since they are highly recommended, though unfortunately it would mean quitting my job 2 months earlier since it would interfere with my work schedule. I am hoping they give us more information on the importance of the classes on Friday? Do you think these are important to take? Any current or graduating students have feedback on whether these are necessary? These are the 2 classes they emailed us about today NURSNG 061 INTERPRETATION OF LABORATORY TESTS NURSNG 215 PHARMACOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES

I am speaking with a nursing counselor next Monday, but I am trying to decide between doing the dual BSN program or doing an RN-MSN program after graduating. Does anyone know which is a better option?

Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC) Fall 2016
You probably won't hear anything until the fall, so I wouldn't stress over checking your email everyday. You can email the department and ask them when acceptance letters will go out. I applied in December and didn't hear back until March which was when all the acceptance letters went out for Fall 2016 class.

College of the Canyons Fall 2016
I emailed the program director and this is what she said accreditation at the ADN level will not impact you getting into BSN programs or in getting a job (except at the VA which doesn't hire ADN graduates anyway) . ADN accreditation is not an expectation of ADN programs. What is important is that the BSN program has nursing accreditation. Also, if I already have a Bachelors do I need to fill out the FAFSA? I think that I am going to have to take out private loans instead? Does anyone know about this?

College of the Canyons Fall 2016
Did COC help at all with job placement? I was reading that GCC helps with job placement, job board, interview tips, letters of rec, etc, and am wondering if COC is helpful with this as well? Have most of your classmates found jobs since graduating?

College of the Canyons Fall 2016
I noticed on the website that the program is applying for a different accreditation and is going to have a period of not being accredited. Is this going to effect us trying to get jobs or applying for advanced programs??

Glendale Community College ADN FALL 2016
Congrats to everyone who was accepted! I was accepted to the standard program, and am trying to decide now between GCC and COC. I have heard good things about COC, but dont know too much about GCC. Does anyone have any information on the program? Maybe current students can share their experiecne? I am wondering if the professors are good?

College of the Canyons Fall 2016
Congrats! I got into the standard program. Can you tell me your decisions over picking GCC over COC?
-
College of the Canyons Fall 2016
Well I just got accepted at GCC!! So now I don't know what to do! I will need to look into that program more. I have been really excited about COC though. Did anyone receive an email back after confirming their attendance for the orientation? I didn't get a reply and just want to make sure that they received my acceptance.

I noticed that GCC has a high NCLEX pass rate, but other than that don't know too much about the program. I've heard people say the same about LA County, but I wasn't able to apply there. I figure I don't know if I will get into these other schools or not so I will wait to stress about that decision if it comes to that. At the very least, I know COC is a great program so I am really excited I got in!

Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC) Fall 2016
I applied in the very beginning of December and was accepted for Fall 2016, so the wait wasn't very long at all. I think I got my official acceptance though in March, so you might have to wait until the fall or something to hear what semester you have been accepted to. I got into another school though and I think I am choosing that over LATTC.

College of the Canyons Fall 2016
Thank you. I applied to a few schools last year, and was accepted to Santa Barbara City College which I was really excited to go to, but I am waitlisted until 2019 (!!!!) so that wasn't really realistic. I am waiting to hear from LA Pierce, PCC, and GCC. I am definitely picking COC over LATTC, but I don't know if any of the other programs are supposed to be better than COC. Will look into it more if I get into them. See you at orientation!!

College of the Canyons Fall 2016
Congrats to those who got in! I think the alternates also have a great shot, fingers crossed :) I've been accepted to COC and LATTC, and am waiting to hear from a few other schools by end of May. I am thinking that COC is my top choice though. I am so excited!! Also nervous for what to expect next year. When do classes start? Where are clinicals? I look forward to meeting everyone May 20!
