I am speaking with a nursing counselor next Monday, but I am trying to decide between doing the dual BSN program or doing an RN-MSN program after graduating. Does anyone know which is a better option?

I think I remember you saying you have a bachelors in another field already right? I would totally go for the MSN program! It will open up so many doors for higher up positions like DON or infection control later on if that is something you are interested in. I know an ER nurse who did UCLA's MSN program and she loved it. She said she was really well prepared clinically as well as for her transition into management positions.

I think it depends. I remember someone once told me that if you want to work at a Magnet hospital you still have to have BSN even if you already have an MSN. But not sure if this is entirely accurate.

Really good point. To keep their Magnet status the hospital has to employee a certain percentage of BSN nurses. I would look into how having an MSN only would factor into getting hired at these hospitals. Ask the counselor on Monday :)

Is anyone taking any summer classes at COC this summer? Perhaps the lab interpretation or pharmacology class? :) Or the PM nutrition class?

I am thinking of taking the lab interpretation and pharmacology class since they are highly recommended, though unfortunately it would mean quitting my job 2 months earlier since it would interfere with my work schedule. I am hoping they give us more information on the importance of the classes on Friday? Do you think these are important to take? Any current or graduating students have feedback on whether these are necessary? These are the 2 classes they emailed us about today

NURSNG 061 INTERPRETATION OF LABORATORY TESTS

NURSNG 215 PHARMACOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES

I have just opened up my seat for alternatives since I have accepted GCC. May the force be with you.

i'll probably take the pharm class. anyone else?

There's so much to get done!!! Just to make sure I got this correct...the TB shot is given and then 1 week later you get jt read...that same day you get a second TB shot and it is read three days later? When I ask for this at the clinic (I have facey) should I just tell them that this is the process I need for the TB not the usual one? :)
