Anyone applying to COC Nursing program Fall 2016?
Congratulations!!What was your experience with the application? the TEAS? your journey so far?
Imo the application process for COC was by far the easiest and they actually message you back.
O God the Teas um i kind of winged it thinking it would be really easy. looking back wish i had bought the teas book lol.
I emailed the program director and this is what she said
accreditation at the ADN level will not impact you getting into BSN programs or in getting a job (except at the VA which doesn't hire ADN graduates anyway) . ADN accreditation is not an expectation of ADN programs. What is important is that the BSN program has nursing accreditation.
Also, if I already have a Bachelors do I need to fill out the FAFSA? I think that I am going to have to take out private loans instead? Does anyone know about this?

If you have been a California resident for at least a year I would totally fill out the FAFSA. You will probably qualify for at least the Board of Governors Fee Waiver which will pay for tuitions costs at COC (I think now they are 46/unit).
Also they do offer federal "direct" loans which will not accumulate interest until after you finish school and start paying them. If and how much you qualify though will depend on your application but I would still apply and see what they offer you. Most likely you can get tuition paid for which is a plus.
Hey guys! Just FYI for those who will be attending COC for the first time or didn't attend this past spring semester, in order to receive a registration appointment (especially one that is not dead last), three things need to be done:
have an application on file for Fall 2016 (info in canvas orientation materials)
complete online orientation
attend new student advisement
The last two things I didn't know but I happened call admissions and records who said I hadn't completed them! I was lucky enough to snag a spot for new student advisement today at 4pm at their canyon country campus and did online orientation. They also have new student advisement this Friday but I am not sure what time.
If you aren't sure if those things are finished I would call admissions and records (extension 3280) and check to be safe. It's not something that needs to be done this week but just to keep in mind and get done at some point soonish. :)
