Hi Everyone!
I am starting this thread for anyone who has been accepted into the COC Fall 2014 Program.
My hope is that here, we can discuss everything from orientation to whatever! I have started working on folder 1 and folder 2. Everything in folder 2 must be received by the Nursing Department by 5/29.
See you all 4/25!!!! And congratulations!
Im in that class right now for spring. Its a GREAT class. Having completed A&P I, II and Micro, the class is super easy. Also learning a few things as well though. Highly recommend it. I wish i could take the pharm class but my current work schedule will not allow me to. Boooooooo. Are you going to enroll for anything? Im taking a summer math class.
Can u tell me which book have u used for the medical terminology so i can get it from amazon. Thanks
Hi! With my professor, we are using Medical Language by Turley. I got the ebook version from chegg dot com (i spelled out the website "dot" as the period since we are not allowed to enter web addresses). I want to say it was like $29-35. I think they also had the option to rent one but i chose the ebook out of preference.
You pay for the shipping to you, but then you can keep the box and ship it back to them for free. I have used them the past two years for book rentals and i love them!
No i didnt sign up for the pharm course. Its doesnt work with my current work schedule. It was discussed at orientation that we will be covering pharm each of the four semesters so i will just learn it as we are taught.
If i took pharm in the summer, i think i would spend more time memorizing to pass the tests rather than really learning the material. While in the program, we will be learning and then apply to the disease processes vs. memorization over a 4 week period.
That is just my opinion and what works for me. If we are going to learn it while in the program, im not going to shell out additional money for books. I am registered for a math class during this summer. After that class, im done with all my grad requirements so i can just focus on nursing courses.
That's great. I did sign up for those two classes so I will have a better understand as my last science course was 8 years ago. Even though; I am a CNA's student this semester and have some experience in nursing, I still feel I am lacking on those terms. Are you taking the math class in COC?

I hear ya! I applied to LA County and we wont hear from them until June as well. They were my first choice. Then i applied to COC and the process was so easy! They were fast, professional and on time with notifications. Thats why i decided on COC. So if i get accepted to County, i will be declining my spot at County. This while process of prereqs, apply and waiting is exhausting. COC had been such a positive experience for me so far that i feel so grateful to have gotten in.
