COC Fall 2014 accepted students!

Hi Everyone!

I am starting this thread for anyone who has been accepted into the COC Fall 2014 Program.

My hope is that here, we can discuss everything from orientation to whatever! I have started working on folder 1 and folder 2. Everything in folder 2 must be received by the Nursing Department by 5/29.

Hey, excited! Found the thread! Thank you. And Congrats to you, too!! I'm glad you started this as I would like to start getting to know some people or meet at orientation this Friday.

So far, I've combed through the folders and signed up for the Fire Safety class. Are you already working in health care? I ask because I received the email about the classes that would prep us for the program. Do you plan on taking those? I think I will.

Hello! I signed up for the fire class at COC for 5/10. Im doing my CPR class through Superior Life Support on 5/3. Scheduled my physical and titers for this Friday after orientation and did my background check Saturday. I will do the drug screen and the with my next paycheck :).

I am not already working in health care. I also received the email about additional classes. I am currently enrolled in medical terminology at COC. Those classes are not required, but definitely helpful. I wish i could enroll for the pharmacology course over the summer, but it does not work at all with my current work schedule. Hopefully you are able to get into either of those classes or both!

Hey GUYS!!!! I AM SOOOOO EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO SPEAK WITH SOME OF YOU BEFORE FALL 2014 STARTS ! To answer Matryos question YES i plan on taking the morning Medical terminology course, and as Excited mention I cannot do night classes because of my current work schedule, so this one best fit my schedule! I scheduled my cpr and fire safety also, I am doing cpr May 7th through the coc suggested thing, and the fire safety May 10th with you guys !!! I also scheduled my immunizations at coc because there was an issue getting an appointment with my doctor anytime soon. I plan on getting my drug screen right after the orientation on friday, I have not paid my background check and yet, but I plan to do it right after orientation because I had a question for them! Anyway I look forward to meeting all of you and being very good friends ! We are all truly blessed with this wonderful opportunity

I will unfortunately not be taking neither the cpr nor fire safety class through coc with any of you guys as it conflicts with my current school schedule, which I am sad about. I am currently finishing up my last semester at CSUN so none of the classes offered work for me but I hope to meet everyone at orientation and maybe one of the summer classes!

awww man!!! Sorry we will miss you at the CPR/Fire class! Im sure we will all be spending plently of time together the next two years! Hahahaa. Class of 2016! Wooo hooo!

. So thrilled, grateful, lost for words, excited to be a part of the COC RN Program!

When I did the background check this weekend. It took only about 5 minutes of time. I spent the time gathering the last 7 years of addresses, schools attended and jobs and it didnt ask any of that. Lol. They just needed to know of i ever went by any other last names. Last time i did a background screen, they needed everything short of my blood type! Ha! Times have changes and electronic enhancements definitely make our lives easier.

Please feel free to post any thoughts from anxiety to suggestions. This is an open forum to all of us to network and stay tight knit through our newfound adventure!

Congrats to you all! Nice to see that these usernames are finally being taken over by actual names now! I am so excited to be starting this program as well!!! So far, I've completed Folder 1 and I am now working and signing up for the necessary items in Folder 2. I will be taking the Fire Safety class in May, so I know I will see some of you there as well, but will do the CPR class closer to home. I thought about taking the summer classes, but now I'm not so sure it will work with my current work schedule (I'm trying to make as much money as I can before we start school and quit!).

Anyhow, I can't wait to meet you guys in person this Friday!! And yes, let's stay close throughout this!!!!

****update**** i noticed on blackboard today they added a document to print and bring tomorrow. Its under folder 1, labeled "demographics".
