  1. sorry sour lemon. my issue was that this participant in the facility i work in, refused to go to the ER after i suggested that he would benefit from additional testing that would rule out something serious like dvt. this participant, is also aaox3, but does have delusion about why his legs are so swollen. was there anything else that i could have done for him besides just documenting his refusal and noting i did as much pt education?
  2. hi guys, i am seeking advice on how to effectively deal with a pt (or i should say participant) who refuses medical care/attention. to give u guys a low down on the setting in which i work, it is a homeless outreach/homeless services facility. anyhow, i came across this participant who was referred to me by my coworker who is a non medical professional. this participant had swollen legs, skin intact, no pain, but the left leg was larger than the right, and this person also stated he has a bone deformity on his left. he is also aaox3 but does have some paranoia/delusion about his leg. i wanted to help him out by suggesting to him that he go get seen in the ER as i was concerned it might be dvt, and we just dont know it. however, this person declined getting seen, and i know i just have to document, but what else could i have done besides that and pt education? i am getting pressure from my co workers for not having done enough but you cant just force someone to get medical attn if they dont want it right? especially if they do have the cognitive ability to know where and who they are. i really need some feedback on this, because i want to do the best i can to help those who need it the most. thanks in advance!
  3. see yall tomorrow !!
  4. Thanks for the info, Becca! I was wondering myself about the syllabus! See you all Monday!! Can't wait :)
  5. I'm super excited, you guys!
  6. yeah, i didn't know that they ran so small! I'm not sure what style number I got but it was a thicker material than the other one. Have you gotten your patches yet?
  7. Hey! I have already ordered my scrubs but not patches yet.. I actually went to a place kinda by me so I can try the uniform on. The sizes run really big! I ended up getting two sets too. When you posted about the registration date/time I panicked because I haven't received mine yet but I just called and they said that new or continuing students will receive it later in the day today... Whew. and yes, that golden email.... we're looking out for you!!!
  8. i sure hope so! I just want to know already!
  9. Hey guys! Been a while since I posted. I called the nursing dept and was told that the schedules will be "coming out soon" and that the professors are "working on them." I also called the admission and records dept about registration times and was told that the times and dates will come out on july 1st so I am guessing that the schedules will be emailed to us around that time, too. I can't wait to find out! But at least knowing and talking to someone kinda eased the anxiety haha
  10. Yes, that's what I remember them saying - that we'd receive word at the end of the semester. I'm super excited... Im practically done with the to do list, just need to pick up some papers and turn everything in, which I will probably do either tomorrow or Thursday. I can't wait!!!!
  11. that's great you got everything in so early in time @excited1! I have one last thing to finish up and that's the follow up for the TB test. Good to know we will be hearing from Kaplan soon. I'm super excited for the next steps...!
  12. ah, okay. sounds good. thanks for the info!
  13. Hey @excited1. Sorry I've been MIA! I see what you mean on the Kaplan website where it says $129 for the exam prep, but i'm not sure if that's what we need?? It is vague.... Also, I tried to PM you to get in better contact, but I don't think this site will let me just yet....
  14. healthworks has a pretty quick turnaround. I went in yesterday and they already emailed me the results! I suggest you guys go there if you can, yeah, it's $72 but they also assured me that I wasn't the first COC nursing student to do the drug test, so all 10 will be covered. One less thing to worry about!
  15. Hi Guys! I wish I had planned better to meet you all during orientation today. I'm hoping some of you will be there for the Fire Safety class in May so I will get a chance to then. @excited1, I know! They scared me with the background check taking long so that's the first thing I did when I got home. And to answer your question @moon_flower - yes, those nesting dolls! Haha
