COC Fall 2014 accepted students!

Hi Everyone!

I am starting this thread for anyone who has been accepted into the COC Fall 2014 Program.

My hope is that here, we can discuss everything from orientation to whatever! I have started working on folder 1 and folder 2. Everything in folder 2 must be received by the Nursing Department by 5/29.

Yeah I mean 5 days a week mon to Friday. Typically 6-7hrs. There is one short day that started at noon and was about 2 hrs. But the rest are long days.

Were you divided to two different groups or it was all in one group ?

We were divided into 2 groups. So there are two different classes each with their own professor. My clinical site was Henry Mayo; there was two groups at Providence Holy Cross, and some went to Kaiser Panorama and Olive View. Only 10 students per clinical site. These are the typical clinical sites as I understand it so it is possible to go to the same clinical site more than once throughout your student nursing career, in fact it will probably happen from what we hear. I do think that Henry Mayo has a slight advantage because it is a bit slow and you typically get a lot of experience passing medication.

You will probably get your numbers the same time we do, which is after the last finals. Which for us is next Tuesday.

Erica ! Good luck in your final and thanks for the info. The fact that we are being divided to two groups is awesome!!! Thanks for the info and keep on touch. I would love to meet up with you on campus. Are u taking summer classes ?

Lol. I'm a boy ;) my name is Erick. But it's understandable because most of your classmates will still be women. Apparently our class demographics is unheard of since we have 10 men. I won't be taking summer class at COC. I'm in the CSUN cohort so I'll be there. But yeah anymore question you can think of or anything you may feel uneasy about let me know :)

Make sure you get in the habit of meeting deadlines! There will be some requirements every semester. If you don't meet the deadline you will get PIP aka a write up. 3 PIPS in 2 consecutive semesters and you will be dropped from the program.

For schedules, I looked at Spring 2014 forum. They received their schedules via email approximately two months after notification of acceptance date. So, we should be looking at the week of 6/16. Here's to hoping! :)
