CNA's what state are you in and what salary? thanks

Hawaii-$12/hour.

Specializes in Geriatrics.

New Hampshire - Making $15 an hour, per diem.

$10, but I get benefits. Its at an LTAC and it doesn't matter what shift every CNA in that place gets 10 an hour no matter what experience they have. This is in TX.

Side note: just trying to get experience where I can work at a hospital to help with tuition.

Northeast Arkansas area, the nursing home I work at pays the following for 2nd or evening shift: Base hourly pay is $9.00 + $2.00 for shift diff. + $2.00 for incentive pay for a grand total of $13.00 per hour. Most of the other facilities in the area range from $8.00 to $10.00 an hour.

I live in Minnesota, and in 2005 when I last worked as a CNA, I was making $14.10 per hour. They were capping CNA wages at about that and I figured I was tired of breaking my back, so if they weren't going to pay me what I was worth (no raises) I needed to pursue a career in nursing! Not that you don't do hard work in nursing, but the pay is significantly better.

I graduate May 2010 and will be taking my NCLEX sometime in June! :)

Way to go! I'm a year behind you in school. I had zero experience as a CNA and started in 2008 at a MN nursing home at $10.25/hr. I was told I was not eligible for pay increases based on past professional experience or current job performance.

After a year there, I got an offer from a hospital for $15.50. Not too hard to figure out why that nursing home cannot keep good CNAs. I loved the experience and the residents, but I really disliked many of my coworkers.

Specializes in Substance Abuse, Mental Health.

cna/med tech @ assisted living facility in north carolina- $10.25 p/h

Specializes in psych,geriatrics,sub-acute.

Eastern Sierra, Ca. $13.00. I work 12 hour shifts, sometimes 16 hour shifts, 5 days a week. Very short staffed out here at our LTC & sub-acute unit.

Missouri, St Louis County LTC pays $8/hr for days and evenings and $9/hr for nights.

wow california pays $11 per hour. working in a rehabilitation home. the dirty work.

Specializes in LTC, Home Health.

I live in PA. When I first started at a large Geriatric Facility in 2004 the pay was $9.50/hour. I had to work 2 full time positions to pay my bills. Then I went to another facility. Full time with benefits paid $10.50/hour. I decided I couldn't live off of $10.50. I forfeited the benefits and guarenteed hours to work per diem and was paid $13 an hour and $14 for 3rd shift. I now work in a rehab faciltiy as a CNA/Medical Assistant and I make about $15.10/hour with the shift differential. Funny thing is, I am not responsible for nearly as many things as when I worked in an LTC. The job duties are a bit different, less stressful and so is the pay!!!

Specializes in Long Term Care,Cardiac Care,Pediatric..

I'm from MN too, do you care if I ask what hospital? I started out at Regina Medical Center LTC at 11.80 (a year and a half ago) I moved to Denver CO and make 13.00-14 hr. (Agency hospital work). Going to school too..I was at Inver Hills Community College and now I am at a CC in Denver.

I agree with you. There are several Supermarket and fast food chains in my area who start cashiers at a minimum of $11-$12 an hour. It isn't hard to figure out why Nursing Homes cannot keep good dedicated help. Why break your back lifting people for $8-$9 an hour when you can go down the street and flip burgers or ring up a register and make $12/hour?

It takes a special kind of person to be a CNA. One who has a big heart :heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat and one who knows how to budget on a small income..... (lol :lol2:) You definitely won't become rich being a CNA, however the rewards you will receive will not be in the form of a check!
