I have a couple interviews for PCT positions, but I have no idea what to expect as a salary. I am a student nurse in NE FL. Please tell me where you live, your experience, and how much you make. I know I will probably have to take a pay cut, but to be doing what I am going to school for will be worth it, I think. Thanks for you help!
I'm a beginner cna with a job at a local Ltc making $9.25 an hour working the night shift. The day shift aides
with under 1 year experience start at $8.25. No insurance until you work for a year and you have to be full time.
Supposedly you get a 3 month evaulation...never happens though, and after a year a raise, also never happens, at
least thats what a year and a 1/2 employee told me. I'm only staying for a year and getting my experience, then
I'll move on. Place is close to me and really not that bad to work for. We take good care of the residents, place
is clean, food is great and some aides and nurses have been there for years.
I am in Connecticut, and as soon as I became a CNA I started with $11/hour in an assisted living, per diem, no benefits.
I also got an offer from a home care agency, for $12/hour, but the job involved a lot of driving, and one assignment was only one hour, so it just didn't work out, considering the price of gas, and how few hours I would get a week (if any).
Me - Southern California (San Bernardino area). $9.00/hour & on-call (per diem, without the Latin) at an LTC facility. Benefits - "you've got a job!". Been here a month and a half; figure I've got about 2 weeks of actual floor time. It'd be nice if they'd put me on FT, but I'm not expecting it - pushing to get accepted into an LVN program at a local CC, and hoping that I can get a home health/hospital/rehab gig to tide me over until I can pass the NCLEX and move into an LVN slot. Facility is acceptable - pts. aren't abused, for the most part the staff are professional with a few bad apples (a bit catty at times - remember the catnip ), equipment's a bit antiquated in some instances (hand cranks on some of the beds, for example) but I'd at least consider putting a relative in there - so long as I could pick the staff to handle the case!

i am in my last yr of RN school and finally was able to get a nurse tech position, PRN at community hospital in the houston/galveson TX area. I make $12/hr and work seven 12 hr shifts/ per 2 wks pay period. it works out nicely and complements my clinical schedule. plus, i am "promised" a RN position with the facility upon passing my nclex in dec.
