CNA's graduating in March-April!

Published

This thread is for those of us who are enrolled in a CNA course right now, and/OR will be certified between March and April. Here is where we rant, network, and/or brag about the way our course (s) are going, our experiences finding a job after our course/internship is completed, and what our plans are for the future (Nursing school, etc.).

We started this topic in another thread, lets keep this going! :heartbeat

Here is a little YouTube humor for all of us potential CNA's. A typical day in the life of a Certified Nursing Assistant :yeah::

Hey guys!! I passed both written and skills!! I'm A CNA!!!! I got an 89 on the written!!! 10 pts lower than my class grade but that's okay.

They didn't give me questions and answers that I missed but they did give me a list of "vocabulary to study" so I thought I'd pass that on to you. Each of these were in my mental list of possible wrong answers.

hair care, care plan, colostomy bag, constipation, oral temperature, sharps container, antisepsis, rights, confidentiality, ethics

Shante sorry to hear about your car!! I was so afraid to go out anywhere yesterday b/c last month we got a little clipper system come through & I hydroplaned wayy too many times!!! I hope your insurance covers the damage for you though :)

Hi,

A correction: I won't be able to take the state board on 3/28. I have to wait 10 business days after passing the CNA class finals. I found all this out today at my first class. But I am still excited, class went well. We have a very nice instructor. She is uses a lot of practical examples to explain situations. It is more than just reading out of the book. You can wrap your mind around what she is saying. Resa

Thanks so much. I was bummed about it, I still am kinda. I am relieved that my insurance will cover it but I also know that now my very low rate ($120/mo) will go up. So I'm kinda worried about that but very thankful the damage wasn't worse than what it was. :)

I feel you, Shante. Just 3 days after completing my CNA course, I rear-ended a hummer in my little Chevy Prizm. My fault :( I was on my way to my first interview for a CNA position, and had to call to reschedule. Thankfully, they let me and I'm working there now!

Their car was fine, but mine was totalled. $3500 was the starting estimate to get it repaired :( I ended up buying a 2002 Daewoo Nubira for a reasonable amount, but am having to pay monthly as I borrowed it from my mom's savings. My court date is tomorrow! :( They're claiming personal injury to their child who was in a car seat, though they didn't go to a hospital or anything. So I guess we'll see how that goes.

I hope everything goes okay for you atla! One of the ladies in our class was rear-ended on the way to class but luckily her car didn't get any damage. Will your insurance cover their medical bills?

I have , so it will cover any medical bills for them up to $25k. I'm sure I'll get lots of court costs and fines, though. It could be worse, though :) Thanks for your well wishes!

Hey. Just got back from court. $228 in fees, 120 days "supervision" (which means I just can't get any tickets or anything), and 4 hours of driving school. The people I hit haven't contacted my insurance co., and they weren't there, so I don't guess they plan on doing anything. *crosses fingers*

Coulda been lots worse.

120 days supervision is pretty good. I got just one speeding ticket & that cost me $160 plus $50 for driver's improvement & 5 points on my license :(

Hey guys!!

Hope everything is going well with your CNA courses. I noticed most people aren't posting on the boards as often anymore, LOL. I assume you all are very busy with wrapping up your classes etc. Best wishes to you all :redbeathe

As for me, I finished getting all of my medical clearances which did add up to $200 because I am not eligible to be under my fathers insurance anymore. I still owe my school about $130 of the $1400 that is required for the completion of the course and to enter the internship phase. I was so broke and wondering how I was going to come up with $130 not to mention the money it takes to find a job i.e. Interview clothes, transportation, etc. However, something came through for me today, and I didn't have to go begging :yeah::nono:.

Times like these where I realize life is not so bad.

Anywho, my class has come to about an hour lecture every night, and two hours of skill practice. I figure if I just read the book everyday, and my group practices all the skills every night we should be fine. Once we complete the class its time for our 30Hr internship, then our Pre-Test at our school, and finally state Boards.

Then time to Hustle and find a job.

Where are you all in your journeys?

Cant wait till we all post on this Board that we all PASSED THE BOARDS! :nurse::cheers:

Oh, and our teacher said she'll throw us a party!

We had a party too! And we got little certificates & everything :D

Well tomorrow finally I'm taking the long long journey up to the B.O.N. ! Idk how long its going to take me to get a temp. license but I hope it will be soon. Without that I can't apply anywhere yet since they need a license #.
