Has anyone done CNA training through the Red Cross?

i'm considering taking a 4-week course through the Red Cross in Canoga Park. Has anyone ever gone through this program? How was the experience for you? It's pretty pricey, but I want to get trained during the summer and, unfortunately, the less expensive options (i.e. community colleges) don't offer classes till the fall.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

I did my CNA training at the Red Cross in Minneapolis. It was awesome. We had a great instructor - a Case Manager who had been a CNA for about twenty years before she got her RN. Boy did she have some stories.

She taught is very well, not just the skills but many other facets of being a CNA and working with patients from many different populations.

I took the training here. I did the 7 wk part-time night class. It was a great experience.

I went through the local Red Cross.

My instructor was patient and real. She was a CNA for 15 years and went on to become an RN. I learned a lot from her.

I'd recommend going through them!

hi i live in santa clarita california and i am thinking of taking the course for CNA through the red cross. i went to school as a medical assistant and i am having trouble finding a job as a medical assistant and i was wondering if you guys can please let me know, the experiences you have.

do you know the requirements that we need to apply for the red cross for the training?

i just wanted to know because other people tell me that is a bad idea to be a cna. I would like to an Rn

I'm taking my CNA class in the Boston area through the red cross, and love it. I just started the clinical portion today! It can be hard at times, and the instructors can be strict, but I truly believe it is because they want us to do well. I know by the end of my class I will be thankful that the instructors were tough. Overall, I recommend the red cross. The 4 week option is great too...get it done quick.

i believe the only requirements is that you need to get a physical and be tested for TB prior to doing the clinical portion of the course.

eventually, i'd like to be an RN, too. i'm trying to get into nursing school but in the meantime i want to get some hands-on experience with patients.

Lilpeapods, I saw your posts in the MECN forum. Don't be discouraged and keep gaining healthcare experience! Going for a CNA license is a great way of getting patient contact and an easy door into working in healthcare. I live in LA and just finished the CNA training through the Red Cross in Commerce in January. My instructor (May) actually teaches at Canoga Park and was just substituting for my class. Let me tell you, the training was great! I learned so much during clinicals and May really prepared me for the state boards. The price is hefty but there is actually a government grant through WorkSource that pays for the entire $1500! Message me and I can send you all the details :nurse:
