Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.

C'mon now!

Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.

C'mon now!

The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.

All together: C'mon now!!

Some things just make me shake my head.

My recess monitor called me over the walkie in absolute panic "Nurse Wine can you come out here as fast as you can, a student needs you, it's bloody" So I grabbed my emergency bag and ran out there.

The big emergency...

A student has a bloody nose...not from an injury...just a regular old bloody nose. two drops of blood on his shirt...

C'MON NOW!!

I believe it

When I am called out to recess they usually ask me to bring the wheelchair (a blessing and a curse to have) and last time it was for a scraped knee. In the recess super's defense-- "well, it's bleeding, so..."

I just saw a kinder who hurt is knee on the walk to school and need a bandaid. He asked for a bandaid "For my...my...ummm...my leg elbow!" lol

But then I saw a 5th grader for a splinter that he got while camping...in JULY...that his dad removed, but he thought I should look at it during his math test. C'Mon Now!

A couple times this week I have had teachers request to "send an ice pack." "I'm sorry but I need to assess and document an injury in order to treat it. Either it is bad enough for the student to come see me or fine enough not to require treatment."

I tell teachers I don't give ice packs out "by proxy." If student is injured badly enough to need one and cannot come to see me, I will go to them. Otherwise, they may visit me themselves for me to assess.

Had a kiddo tell me yesterday that he was dipping toilet paper in the toilet water to clean his bottom after pooping and now his butt was sore.

I am nauseated just thinking of that!

UGH. Am I the only one who gets tired of the health room bathroom being used as a bathroom for kids who aren't behaved well enough to use the regular bathroom!!!!

Daily, my kiddos that haveto use my bathroom because of medical conditions/procedures are made to wait because a hoodlum is in there.

Today a problem child was in the restroom, I was in the main office, and a medical procedure student comes in and apparently problem child didn't close the door all the way, and didn't answer when medical procedure student knocked. So she walked in on him. I gave him a mouthful, then mentioned it to our counselor. It's only September and I already have three behavior kids using the health room bathroom.

UGH. C'MON NOW! (Sorry, this just irks me to no end, I am not a babysitter, you are putting these kids at risk for getting sick, and your are preventing my students who have nowhere else to go from using the restroom in a timely manner!!!) :banghead:

I have one too because he punched a kid in their grade level's bathroom, so now he "needs to be monitored"

So the PTO board met with our new principal last night and told him that one of the pieces of playground equipment (climbing dome) needs to be removed because of all of the injuries and broken bones it caused last year.

He sent me an email this morning to see what I knew about this since he had no idea it was so dangerous and he would limit the use of it if needed.

Checked our records, only 3 kids last year had injuries related to that piece of equipment, all small scrapes...

C'MON now.

Yes - I already have 1 of these only a month into school. There is another mysterious "poop writer" on our campus - daily messes, just haven't been able to narrow down who it is yet.

I feel our "monkey bars" need to be removed. I say "monkey bars" because it is just a single long long about 8 or more feet off the ground.

I've had multiple head bumps and a broken ankle that required surgery from falls from the stupid things.
