Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.
C'mon now!
Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.
C'mon now!
The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.
All together: C'mon now!!
Some things just make me shake my head.

Basically, he tripped on a friend during basketball, he fell under basketball net, ball came down, friend jumped to save his friend, pushed him to the wall hard.
He's giggling with the ice pack and all I can do is facepalm all the time. At least his mother has a good sense of humor and told me "it's okay, my son is an idiot sometimes". xD
Mom: Why did you not call me to tell me my daughter has a fever?
ME: Because she didn't. It was 98.5.
Mom: Well, that is a fever for her as she is usually 96.5. (when I asked student if mom took her temp this morning - she told me they don't have one)
ME: I have nothing on file from her physician stating that a temp in the 98's is a fever for her.
MOM: (a moment of silence) - well, she has been texting me from class and I, ugh well......... Isn't school almost out???
ME: Yep, final bell rings in 14 minutes. And, she is not supposed to be utilizing her phone in class.
MOM: I will just let her ride the bus home.
ME: OK, sounds good (but inside I am C'MON NOW!!!!!)
I am so tired of parents trying to check in unlabeled inhalers with 4 puffs left that expired 2 years ago for their kid who I have no documentation that they even has asthma!!!! Of course they are only bringing because their kid texted them. They would not have brought if I would have asked.
C'MON NOW!
Y'all. I have to share this non-nursing related c'mon now. And its completely ridiculous.
Just some reference: our campus has grades K-12.
Our MS teachers have opted to do their V-Day party on Friday. No one really knows why and teachers don't really seem to know either. It's "just what we've decided to do". In the grand scheme of things, its honestly NOT that big of a deal. BUT (and there's a big but!), parents are frustrated and have started calling our admin assistant wanting to know why. Many of them have multiple students in multiple grades and now they cannot come to one or the other party, which ends up not being fair for their kiddos. This makes sense for them to be concerned about this. Admin assistant then tries to ask why they've chosen to do the party on Friday (mind you, she is a MS parent as well) and one of the teachers told her "well, I don't have to tell them anything". Admin assistant tries to explain, from the parents' perspective, why an answer would be appreciated. Teacher refuses. Admin assistant eventually flips. Goes on to tell the teacher "actually, you do owe the parents an explanation because they're the ones providing your party with supplies. They're spending their money on this so yes, they do deserve an answer!". Teacher disagrees. This convo goes back and forth for a bit until the teacher just walks out muttering "this is what I get for being nice".
Meanwhile I just sat there pretending to read some emails on my phone because it would have been more awkward to walk away.
How's y'all's Wednesday going?

I agree!!!! And is it really the end of the world if a parent does not make it to their party? Does a MS kid even want a parent at their party????
At the same time, why is the teacher being so secretive about it???

Hahaha right?! There are so many questions regarding this situation! That really shouldn't even be a situation!

I suppose they didn't want them to feel left out?? I don't know. We're a really small school. I'm sure there would have been some upset parents if they found out the rest of the school was doing a party but the 6th-7th graders weren't. I don't really know. I just work here
Walked in to school to be notified by secretary of over 10% of students absent. Checked for trends, mostly influenza A. Sent email to superintendent and health department informing of high absence due to influenza. I sent so many more kids home that morning that 1st and 2nd grade had over half their students home sick. Most of them shouldn't have even come to school that day because they already didn't feel well or mom gave Tylenol (for fever) and told them to tough it out. Called superintendent to notify of high rate of illness, parent noncompliance with fever policy, and that health department recommends closing due to illness.
Superintendent replies that we're not closing. We can't inconvenience the "healthy" 80% of students.
Hmm, I think we are inconveniencing the "healthy" 80% by not closing.
Also, custodian told me he's going to start disinfecting door handles "every couple days".
WHAT?! You don't already disinfect them daily or multiple times daily?
Can flu season be over yet???
