O.k, so I am probably the klutsiest person on earth. My husband cannot believe that I am a nurse and don't daily stab myself with needles or break my neck falling over my own feet:imbar
The worst I have done (this year) is run over my own foot with a fully loaded crash cart. One of my co-workers though, got her scrub jacket caught in the paper shredder last year...
Anyone else? Truthfully, I have never physically injured a patient or co-worker, just my own bruised self.
I once tripped over a chair in a patient's room and dislocated my kneecap. With a newborn in my arms, I managed to ease myself into the chair and hand the baby to his mother. She noticed that all the color had gone out of my face, and not knowing what was wrong, she got up and pushed the emergency call light. The room quickly filled with my co-workers, sans the crash cart, thank goodness! I was taken to Employee Health by wheelchair, and spent the rest of the day in X-ray and the Ortho's office. How embarrassing!
This thread was started just for me.
This is just my list for today
1. Tripped on the imaginery bump in the hall coffee went flying
2. Jacket got caught on CVP ripped the sucker right off the transducer
3. Dropped by icecream cone on the way back from lunch
4. Opening Betadine accidently sprayed the attending clean whit jacket. He was'nt to happy But I got a good laugh
I think I need a good school and grace and composure
Yeehaw! I've found my clutsy soulmates!
I am always falling UP the stairs, especially at work, thank goodness no stairs at home anymore! As a kid, I'd fall so often my parents stopped bothering to check on me...they'd just wait to hear me get up or yell "I'm fine" first :chuckle
My biggest fear is falling DOWN the stairs at work, they're steep and I just imagine being at the bottom in a heap of broken bones with my shirt over my head or something...stopped carrying anything hot up them after the hot chocolate fall
Anyway a few weeks ago I started down the steps with arms full-not holding the railing ( ) and I lost my balance, but has able to steady myself...but my chunky heeled shoe flew off & clunks down every step. In seconds I hear "that was a person" and they run to only find my shoe at the bottom of the stairs :) Sorry to disappoint them!
A shift at work was never complete, unless I has spilled at least 1 pitcher of ice water at the patient's bedside. In the days that only seasoned nurses will remember (I prefer seasoned to older!), I was filling a humidifier in a patients room at the end of my shift. The patient was sleeping, as were the rest of the unit. Back then, water for humidifiers came in big glass bottles of distilled water. I went to pour the water in and dropped the entire bottle. It smashed to smitherines. Not a closed eye in the house.
Funny stories. I think the clutziest thing I ever did at work was at the hospital. The elevator opened but did not line up right with the floor. I did not look took a step forward, and feel down onto the floor. It was about 6 inches to low..........of course i was not alone either............heehheh

This thread is so timely! I regularly FALL OFF OF MY SHOES...I trip on air, going up or down the stairs,up or down curbs,Heck-I just fall over....Just yesterday I took a dive in the center of the cul-de-sac in front of my house-in broad daylight..I don't think any neighbors were home.If they were they must have been laughing too hard to ask if I was alright....I don't know what happened-I turned away from the mailbox and took one step-the next thing I know I am flying through the air! I have ROAD RASH on my bubbies, the palms of my hands and one knee is wracked to H*ll..I hit my chest so hard it knocked the wind right out of me....Last year after a spectacular fall in front of a crowd of about 75 parents at my son's day camp I became convinced that I had ALS or something like it...One painful EMG later I am thankful that I am just clumsy....I have always been the opposite of GRACE...I do make a fast recovery-I have perfected that art of jumping up quickly and adopting the "Who fell down-wasn't ME " face....I love you ALL-we are SISTAS! Also-something must be wrong with my electro magnetic field-electronic equipment seems to always malfunction only when I am near....I LIVE Murphy's Law....I am an accident looking for a scene....

Hello? Does anyone remember my story about the escalator at Sears? That screwed up my right knee.
I fell walking through the grass in my front yard. Was wearing a pair of cute trendy sandals that were not meant for my feet. That screwed up my left knee.
And I have sailed down my basement stairs twice. Once face first, and once ass first. Both to the hysterical amusement of hubby and son who were waiting at the bottom and caught great views both times.
I'm not very graceful at all. I'll never be a solid gold dancer
