So apparently this is a thing now:

This "Bubble" Nail Trend Is Crazy AF

COPDers and CHFers of the world rejoice!

Gross... Whoever invented it must have messed up someone's nail and told the customer this is the "new thing". And she fell for it... And so her friends. Ugh......

My mother has acrylics that are currently about 3 inches long. The nails underneath are all yellow... She uses them to pick her teeth too. *yak* Currently, they're painted with confederate flags.

I wish I was joking *sigh*

I just thought of three responses, typed them out, and deleted them.

Bless her heart.

I'm pretty sure I'd agree with them.

I'm not proud of it. She is who she is. I'm not her. That's it.

Lol like the lady who had 11 inch nails. How in the wide wide world of sports did she wipe her butt?? 😱

That's ok, I'm sure she has her nurse to do it for her.

My parents are the exact same way, so I can empathize. Gotta love 'em though!

But this can come back to bite you. At first you're all happy because the patient is willing to wipe herself, but then she refuses to wash her hands and you stand in helpless horror as you watch her touch everything.

To adventure_rn... I find the allnurses forum to be a respite away from the various challenges that are faced by those who are not a part of the popular culture. I'm not quite sure what the title of your post referring to "Clubbing is the New Black" is implying. But for me as a nurse it sounds like it's lacking in culture sensitivity and leans heavily towards being stereotypical. I'm not implying that I disagree with all of the post because the nail style is a bit much it's just that the title of your post leaves a whole lot to be desired.

I thought she was referring to my favorite TV series on netflix.

I'm pretty sure the title is a haha to the Netflix "Orange is the New Black" program.

Wondered how long it would take for someone to get butt-hurt over this.

Why not just ask what OP was referring to instead of assuming insensitivity and using it as a soap box for a lecture? You risk coming off looking a tad pretentious.

Reminds me of an old "Peanuts" strip:

Linus has drawn a picture of a man. Lucy observes, "I see you have drawn him with his hands behind his back. Is this because you, yourself, have feelings of insecurity and this is how you think you look to others?"

Short silence, and then Linus replies, "I drew him this way because I, myself can't draw hands!"

There is no need to justify the post with your quote from the Peanuts... It is what it is and from your reply I'm clear on my perception of it all. Just be more sensitive to others..

"Is the new black" is a fashion term denoting what is considered trendy or en vogue.:) Hence the show title "Orange is the New Black".
