I'm almost 32 and just about finished my first quarter back. I will have 9 more pre reqs to take before I can apply for the program. I would love to chat with others and cheer each other on along the way. OH, and does anyone else think English 101 is kinda hard?! And why the hell does it have to be one of the 4 classes that count at my school? I'm going crazy!
I am 32 as well. I have Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Management/Financial Management. Prior to finishing my Master's degree I took a detour and decided to pursue a Nursing career. Therefore, I have finished most if not all of my pre-requesites depending on the school(s) I apply to. I got scared for a minute and put the Nursing pursuits out of my mind. I just could not figure out a way to get a BSN or CNL and keep my full-time job. Now that I have finished my master's I am now wanting to take the risk and quit my job and go to school full-time and maybe work a part-time position. It is still scary but I have to follow what will make me happy in the end.
I am 35, married with four kids. Most of my family members thought I was crazy for going back to school, but it is what I really want. I have a degree in Radiologic Technology, but I have really always wanted to be a nurse. I am completing my pre-reqs this fall and applying to the program in the Spring of 2014. I really, really hope I get in! I don't want to have to wait several years for acceptance into a program at my age. I do really well in all of the science based classes, but statistics is a whole other story, lol. Good luck to everyone!
I am 32 with a 3 yo, a 2 yo, and a 33 yo. Making a career change from Veterinary Technician to human nursing. I've also had a few years experience in research. I'm interested to see what nursing in research is like. For now, I've been accepted to a BSN program starting in January 2014 and I'm finishing up re-taking pre-requisites.
I'm glad I found this! Your stories are very inspirational and I'm glad to know there are so many people seeking nursing as a second (or third) career!
This is awesome!! 30 years old and I'm an aircraft maintainer in the Air Force trying to get into nursing, I'm trading being covered in grease & hydraulic fluid to blood & guts All pre-reqs done, working on getting my CNA while I wait to apply for next fall, married w/ a 4 year old & a 1 year old. My hubby is about to go back to the sandbox so I'll def need some encouragement to not give up working on my applications or volunteering as a CNA when my kids are trying to see who can knock each others teeth out 1st when I'm not looking. :) this was a great idea!!
I'm 38, and in the pre-nursing program. This thread really encourages me because i know lol i'm not the only person in my thirties working on being a future nurse. I've been out of school for about 8 years, so was nervous at first but i'm hanging in their. My goal is to first get my Associates in Nursing, then work up to Masters and get my Nurse Practitioners license. Want to work as a Pediatric nurse practitioner. Got some time to go, but it will happen. I'm an accountant, so i'm trading in my suits for scrubs. Good luck everyone, we can do this:yes:
Hi guys, so happy to have found this thread. I am 30 and just about decided nursing will be my career path. Married with 2 girls (13 & 2) it's just time! Very encouraging to see persons with a more mature outlook starting out and also acheiving. Good luuck to all! Any south florida students?
Hello, I am 34 will be 35 on September 15th and I am barely starting on my pre-reqs. I am thinking about getting into the LVN program in Fresno, Ca and working my way up to an RN. I plan on doing my CNA class soon so I can work and gain some experience while taking my pre-reqs. I'm kinda taking it slow and only taking 2 classes at a time since I have 6 kids and really want to focus on my classes to keep good grades, and also because Math and Science are my very weak subjects. But I'm determined to get through these classes. I love this thread, as I have always been anxious about pursuing my dream of becoming a Nurse at my age. So this is a very motivating and inspirational thread for me. Thanks all!

I have 5 more prerequisites to finish until I'm able to apply to nursing school. I'll be 31 in a few months. I know this won't be easy but I am ready to work hard. I hope we can keep in touch and motivate each other.
