I'm almost 32 and just about finished my first quarter back. I will have 9 more pre reqs to take before I can apply for the program. I would love to chat with others and cheer each other on along the way. OH, and does anyone else think English 101 is kinda hard?! And why the hell does it have to be one of the 4 classes that count at my school? I'm going crazy!

36 male married with 2 kids ..it took me 4 years of ups and downs, working fulltime and going to school parttime, to get through my prereqs. Now I'm currently in a BSN program..1 year left...to all my male and female pre-nurses out there, hope i can inspire you guys to keep working at it...allnurses has been a great resource of encouragement for me, i've been on here since 2008. I was so excited to get "graduated" to the Nursing Student forums lol. Its tough especially having to quit your full-time job and do this, but its definitely doable with faith and student loans :roflmao:

I just turned 30 last month and am finally starting nursing school in August. I'm married, but I do not have any children which I'm sure will make things a little easier to manage during the program. I'm proud of myself though- I either wanted to either be in a program by the time I turned 30, or at least accepted into one, so it's a great accomplishment. :)

Go ahead girl, you sound just like me: married, no kids, and just starting a nursing program. We can do this!

I was just accepted into the ASN program. I am excited but nervous! I am 38 years old and have 5 boys ages 12 11, 10, 8, & 6. I worked really hard on my prereqs. The biggest concern for me right now is how I'm going to balance everything. I had control before of choosing when & what classes to take. I controlled my schedule so I could go to class & study while my boys were at school. Now, I'm not sure what schedule I will have.[/quote']

Wow Christysanchez75, five boys!! You're amazing! Excited to meet you and everyone else at our Orientation :)

Hi, I'm 44, married for 23 yrs and have 4 daughters 22, 20, 17 and 7. I took all my pre-req's for PHCC's RN program in the spring and am taking some co-req's right now. I just found out last week that I got accepted into the program and received the packet today. So EXCITED for this new journey!!!

Omg!!! 4 girls! I have one teen girl and I'm going nuts! Lol.

I start cna classes July 15 then nursing program at the end of September.

Good luck ! We can all do this !

Hi! I'm 28, a 8 year old son, 2 year old son and a 10 month old daughter. I am married to the best man ever :)I am currently avoiding studying and on here instead :) I have 8 classes left and will be done with pre-reqs in May!

I'm not 30 yet....I'll be 28 on July 28th lol. I just applied for spring 14 BSN program at my school. This fall will be my last semester of pre reqs...18 credits including a nursing orientation course. I have a 6 year old and my boyfriend has a 9 year old.

I just turned 34 last week. I work full time and go to school full time. This fall will be my last semester for pre-reqs...thank goodness!!! Congrats to all of you who have made and to those who are just starting...the hardest part is getting started. Best of luck to all!!

Um, 50 and just got accepted into the VN program at a local CC. Did the combined A&P class (plus lab, which wasn't a prereq), Math for Healthcare professionals (dimensional analysis) and intro VN class for prereqs. General Ed I had from my previous degree (B.S. Comp. Sci.) and I've got a good start on the prereqs for ADN/BSN - doing intro chemistry right now & will get Anatomy, Physiology & Microbiology after I've done my VN. Plus a speech course and a foreign language course to finish up the prereqs for ADN/BSN.

Didn't find freshman comp (English 101) all that challenging, sorry. A&P wasn't all that tough either - however, Math for Healthcare Professionals and Intro Chem either did or are kicking my furless bootay. Math is far and away my weakest subject, but I'm very, very good at life sciences and English.

Best of luck to all - you can do it!

I love this thread! I'm 33yo and anticipate starting classes to obtain a BSN for RN career, I'm currently 5mo pregnant with our second child and I'm terrified of making such a drastic change - but this is for the benefit of my family. I like seeing how I am not the only one making a career move later in life. I was thinking about becoming a vet nurse, but the pay is LESS than what I make now.

I'm 31 with two boys at home, ages 11 and 7. I'm starting my second year doing pre-req's and getting ready to apply to the nursing program at my school. I'm finishing up high school bio this summer online and just finished high school chem.

This fall I'm taking statistics, a&p1 and ethical issues. (Wouldn't you know it I'm a credit shy of being a full time student!)

Previously I was an LNA for 4 years. I worked doing in home care and then in a nursing home. I worked mostly with alzheimer's and dementia patients.

I'm hoping when I'm an RN to work in hospice.

I am 36 with 3 boys ages 9, 12, and 20 and I have decided to go the LPN-RN route. It is better for me since I am paying out of pocket and will get me working sooner. I am on my last 2 pre-reqs now which is BIO 110 and MAT 070 and my semester will be over Wednesday. Will be applying for the LPN program Feb. 1, 2013 and praying that I get accepted. Good luck to everyone on this forum.
