Hi guys. I am done with all of my prerequisites for the Valencia nursing program and have 2 semesters to take classes that might help. Any suggestions? I don't want to waste my money and time on classes that will not do anything for me. I can't take Pharmacology because it's part of the program. I've already taken Medical Terminology and Diet & Nutrition. Any other helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.

Take any non-nursing co-req that you can.
There are no co requisites for the program.

Is it an ADN program? If so, maybe you could take prerequisites for RN-BSN programs (usually literature, history, chemistry...) ahead of time while you're waiting. Also, could you take phlebotomy, CNA, or EKG classes? Once you get CNA and CPR certifications, you could start working as a CNA or tech at a hospital or LTC to gain extra experience.
Good luck! :)

Advanced A&P/Micro, if those aren't required already. Language classes?
You could also take foreign language courses (whatever foreign language is common in your area). Sign language may also be beneficial, depending if you have a large deaf population in your area. See if your college has classes specifically for healthcare providers. It would definitely be helpful for communicating with patients who either don't speak English or who have limited English understanding.

You could be ahead and start reading in advance.

In the summer semesters, I'm going to take classes that fulfill the requirements for my future RN-BSN program. If there aren't any science-related courses, maybe something in the vein of sociology or language?

Take courses towards your BSN, like statistics. Or, if you have co-reqs in your program, start getting those knocked out now.

What have you taken in terms of psychology? Developmental psychology and abnormal psychology were recommended to me. Chemistry is another good one. You'd think it would be a requirement for all programs, but it isn't.
