Hey yall!

Just wondering if there are any of us out there still working on pre-reqs - hopeful nursing graduates of 2006?

Roll call! :)

I'm the 26yo mama of two boys (5yrs and 18mos). I work FT right now and am taking my pre-reqs at night. Hoping to get into a BSN program and start my nursing core/clinicals in fall 2004!

Hello,

Yes, with Gods Grace and alot of studying I will be graduating in 2006 with an ADN and plan to tranfer to OU-Eastern for my BSN, while working as an Rn.

I work fulltime as an stna and i have finished my prereqs. FAll qtr i will begin my nursing classes and my first clinicals start the first week!

I have been married for over five years, together for over nine. My dh and I have two boys, ages 5 and 15 months. I started out originally in marketing, but finally I "saw the light."

Congradulations to all of us, and Good Luck!!!!

Sincerely, jules

btw I found out the 27th of january that my dh and I are expecting our third child and I am IN for the class of 2006 at belmont tech. Whew alot on my plate!!!

Good luck Amy, I hope you get in for the soonest term! My goal is to graduate by the time I'm 30, but we'll see if I accomplish that or not (2007).

Thanks for the prayers Agent, I really appreciate. Good luck on that entrance exam, thank goodness you were able to get in. What a lot of drama... I run into lots of problems like that at the school where I'm doing my pre-reqs because of communication problems. Two people in the same office will tell you two totally different things... drives me nuts.

Hi ER! Glad you joined us. What is your other BS in? I looked at an entry-level masters at (even though I don't already have a BS), but I feel like I want to have some nursing experience before I decide what I want to go on and get a MSN in.

Hi Rocky, glad you joined us too. When will you hear if you got in? Good luck! There's a lot of us here just waiting on some good news! :)

Hi Jules, glad you joined us too! I have two boys also - 5 and 2. They're lots of fun, aren't they? What does STNA stand for (I'm guessing something nurse-assistant?)

Specializes in OB-Gyn/Primary Care/Ambulatory Leadership.

Right here. Assuming I get into the program this fall (NET is next month) and assuming I pass Micro this summer (the chemistry prereq is waived if you've already taken micro before starting the nursing program, but if I don't pass Micro, I'll have to take Chemistry, so I'd have to get a deferment for a semester for entering the program), I'll be graduating in May '06.

Ooh, I'm jealous! I wish they waived Chem for us. I LOVED micro, but am HATING chem so far! YUCK! :(

STNA= State tested nursing assistant. (at least here in ohio you have to take the couse, then you get a written test from the state and then you take a "skills" assesment test where they watch you preform 2-3 skills ie. oral care, making an occupied bed, standing, walking...

Thanks sportbikegrl. :)

I'd like to take a CNA class, but just can't seem to find the time (or a class, for that matter)....

ERRNwant2b, I looked at the entry masters programs out there & found that getting the ADN for me would be the best fit for me right now. I'm easily able to take classes evenings & weekends and it's much cheaper than getting a BSN or MSN for me.

What a bad day for me. I'm literally in tears over something so stupid....

My younger son (2) is developing a bad case of baby bottle tooth decay. So I called to try to get an appointment with the only pediatric dentist within an 80 mile radius of where we live.... they won't accept him since he's a Medicaid patient (they only take a limited number, and everyone knows this is b/c Mcaid pays less for their services) - even if I offered to pay the difference in what they'd charge, or pay the whole thing out of pocket (apparently that's illegal).

I'm so upset about it. I already feel like a terrible mama, and now I feel even worse that I can't even get my son decent health care coverage. The system is so screwed up. :(

Sorry to rant about this here, I just had to let that out somewhere.

My 2 yr old refuses to brush his teeth correctly, he justb likes to eat the tooth paste so yes, his teeth are getting all yellow.

Not too good.

Between him and the little baby who pukes all the time, I dont know who's worse.

LOL! My 2yo is like that too - just wants to eat the toothpaste. I have to brush his teeth for him, which he certainly doesn't like, but I certainly don't want his teeth getting any worse if I can help it! :(

Oh no, sorry to hear about the baby. Does he have reflux or something?

I hope not, im waiting a few months to see since he's just seems to be in a pukey phase.

He burps too much and then out comes the spitup. He's about 9 months old, so I think he's going to be fine. If it persists after age 1, he's definetely getting looked at.

Can you take him to a regular dentist, Manna? I'd figure that would be better than nothing. Maybe call around to see who's good with kids. I never went to a ped dentist when I was a kid & turned out ok. ;)

Ped dentists are cool...my daughter goes to one. But they are few & far between it seems.
