City of Hope - New Grad August 2013

U.S.A. California

Hey everyone! Has anyone applied to the City of Hope New Graduate program? I applied a few days ago and will post on here if I hear anything. Best of luck to those that applied!

Not bad - I dont mind 3x12s - more flexibility in scheduling. I hope we can get nights too.

I was told the position is 3 12's and in the paperwork for orientation the dress code says business casual (and to wear comfy shoes the first day for a tour).

I don't have that paperwork yet, so that's awesome to hear.

"Comfy shoes." Time to break out the Danskos lol

Johnny, I was told by the nursing recruiter that we will get night shifts as well.

I had 2 semesters of oncology experience, a referral, and went through the 3rd round hiring stage for the last cohort. My status now says "not selected." Didn't even get a shot this time...

@ faithfulalways do you mind giving me your email address so I can respond to your message. It won't allow me to respond to your message :(

great! I just emailed you :)

Just passed my NCLEX. Nurse recruiter said I might have a spot for their Oct. 7th start date, pending background check and other screening of course. Whomp whomp! So excited! I may see some of you in a few weeks!

Also, she told me that the first 4 weeks will be spent on training. It will be 8-hour shifts (not sure if that's just for the training weeks), with Thanksgiving off.

Congrats to those who got a CIS Technician spot and good luck to those still waiting!

Congratulations ADEcstatic! Passing NCLEX is a huge accomplishment :nurse::up:

To those who started yesterday for the CIS job, how'd it go?? Also will it still be 3 12 hour shifts?? I got an email from HR saying that something changed. I hope its still 3 12's!!

I didn't start yesterday, but I was told it will be 8-hr shifts.

I'm supposed to start 10/7 too. She said there's been a 'delay' in the process.........I'm assuming the start date will be pushed back?

Boo--that's a drag. I was hoping for 12s

May I ask what you mean by "delay in the process"? I was told by the nursing recruiter that they were giving the 7th of October start date as an option for those of us who are not close by. I was imagining that they would start teaching people perhaps in two cohorts of sort, since there are two start dates for hirees.
