City Colleges of Chicago: Fall 2012

Published

Hi!

I thought I would start a thread for those of us who have applied for the Fall 2012 Nursing Program at the City Colleges of Chicago. I have heard that they are letting people know on April 18th. Let's hope that's accurate because I'm so anxious to find out! Post here if you've heard anything at all in regards the the Nursing Program!

Hope to hear from everyone soon!

Kat

nursinghereicome,

SHe said the 3.0 will not get you in?

I wonder if they are even considering the TEAS.

She said it was too early to tell. She said last year 3.0's got in but she isn't sure this year b/c 1700 apps and 500 seats.I don't want to spend time and money applying elsewhere just yet. I will wait till this time next week and f/u with Dr. Gurney if I still don't have a letter.

I really thought the same thing Bethany but I didn't wanna mention it and get other people paranoid but I'm just so glad I called at the right moment. I really thought I wasn't getting in

She didn't mention the TEAS at all, only GPA.

Bethany1975, I know someone that got a call/letter in May last year, 2.? Gpa and hadn't taken A&P, Micro etc. They are now in their 2nd semester at Truman. So, we may just get in : )

Specializes in Long Term Care, Rehabilitation, HomeCare.

Congradulations to all who have been accepted and have faith in the ones who are waiting because I know how it feels to be at work or home clicking refresh on your student email waiting for a new message lol! I got accepted 4/12/12 @ around 830pm so I figure Dr. Gurney is working late so I admire that. Since I am already an LPN I got accepted in the RN completion program and my class will start at Malcolm X College this upcoming Summer I can't wait I just hope scheduling go well otherwise I will have to cut hours at work...

When I talked to Dr. Gurney she said that when they are accepting people they are considering GPA, TEAS test scores, and how many of the pre-reqs have been completed. I don't know how they average all of that stuff together, but I am just waiting. I've learned to quit refreshing my email, and to only check it in the morning and at night rather than 30 times a day. When I did call her, she sounded extremely frustrated that people kept calling and she said that it is slowing down the process. I sent an email stating my concerns about students who have only taken 8 credits at CCC with a higher GPA getting chosen over me because I have ALL my classes except the nursing classes finished already, and I've taken over 56 credit hours at CCC. I haven't heard back yet, but I hope she reads it and takes my concerns into consideration. Until then, all I can do is keep faith. Good luck to the rest of you!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS EmanEMT!!!!
