City Colleges of Chicago: Fall 2012

Published

Hi!

I thought I would start a thread for those of us who have applied for the Fall 2012 Nursing Program at the City Colleges of Chicago. I have heard that they are letting people know on April 18th. Let's hope that's accurate because I'm so anxious to find out! Post here if you've heard anything at all in regards the the Nursing Program!

Hope to hear from everyone soon!

Kat

Congratulations spike7!!!! Do you mind posting your GPA and Teas score.

I have never been so stressed in my entire life!! Congrats to all of you who have recieved a positive outcome, and I will keep praying for those of us who have not recieved a reply! Ay new news anyone??:uhoh3:

Hi acbn, I was extremely stressed the first few days. I have completely come to terms with not getting in. But, I also was told by Dr. Gurney a few days back, in not so many words, that my GPA was not good enough and pretty much my only chance was to hold out for a spot someone doesn't want so I have a little information to work with. ha. That still has not kept me from checking my email constantly and hanging around this thread to check up on any news anyone has had.

I won't be satisfied till I hear an official word.

I am surprised they wouldn't be sending out emails of rejection, if they are at that stage yet, because they must be getting bombarded with emails and phone calls. I think that should be a little hope for people who have not heard yet.

Also, someone said they talked with Dr. Gurney who said an acceptance email was sent to them and they had not gotten it, even a day later. So that is some hopeful news also.

It's Friday, I can't imagine that they are still working at 4pm. THat's just not the city way.

I just did a test to my ccc email from my hotmail email. Unfortunately, the test was a success.

Bethany what's your GPA if you don't mind me asking mine is a 3.0 and if urs is any higher even by a little then I might as well come to terms that it's just not gonna happen.

It will really suck to go into the weekend without hearing anything official.

Mine is a 2.9. I have a confession to make. I emailed Dr. Gurney a few nights ago. I said I didn't get an acceptance email and assumed I didn't get in and would they be sending rejection emails soon.

She responded that they sent acceptance letters to all the very high scorers. And that my GPA was moderate. And so I should probably expect to maybe be placed on a waiting list.

I then emailed back, desperate, and I am ashamed I did it, that my GPA for the past two years was a 3.7 going to school full time and that I took classes over 20 years ago at truman that I never withdrew from and received F's and that is what has brought down my GPA. I said, I was hoping that the grades from 20 years ago might be taken into some consideration, seeing as how they are a life time ago, (I didn't say that last line about them being a life time ago in the email).

Well, she never emailed back!!! so I had my answer. SO, with a 3.0 you still have one up on me.

My confession was that I basically pleaded with Dr. Gurney about my grades.

I was very very stressed!! haha

I felt my application probably went in the garbage after that.

No @ bethany1975, you can't be discouraged! Until we get that email stating that we have not been accepted, we will keep hope alive. I know it sounds very corny, but keep your head up!!

Bethany, I probably would have done the same thing! What can you lose, at that point! Maybe it will work! I hope they take that kind of stuff in to consideration.

When they first said they were only looking at CCC GPA, I was kind of annoyed. It didn't affect me, but I was appalled that someone could get all "F"s at another school, go to a city college, get an A in one class and, essentially, have a 4.0. Hopefully, they changed that. I made my feelings on the subject known at an information ession in October and it seemed as though they really hadn't thought that one through.

To those that have gotten in: Congrats! I look forward to working with you all. I have been looking at the schedule for Nursing 101, and it looks like they are going to have clinicals already! I thought they were starting in the second semester! Anyone have any information about it? Also, in the previous years, I think they chose classes through a lottery system so I'm kind of nervous about not getting the class times I need (I work full time). I called Truman today but there was no answer.

my gpa is 3.5 and teas around 76. I still have not receive any acceptance emails yet but she did told me the acceptance email was sent last evening. So Im so confuse right now. So I try calling Truman and it goes straight to voicemail and I still have not got a call from them yet
