Hi!
I thought I would start a thread for those of us who have applied for the Fall 2012 Nursing Program at the City Colleges of Chicago. I have heard that they are letting people know on April 18th. Let's hope that's accurate because I'm so anxious to find out! Post here if you've heard anything at all in regards the the Nursing Program!
Hope to hear from everyone soon!
Kat
Im pretty sure I had the right one as I send a test email from my ccc email to my gmail and I copy that one and pasted it on the form. For those who wants to know their status, you best bet is to contact Gurney directly as she is the one who sends out the email. However, I havent receive any reply from her yet since this morning.
Just got off the phone with Dr. Gurney @ 5:15pm. He said she will be working on applications over the weekend. She informed me that my 3.0 means I won't get in or be on a waitlist but she won't know for sure till she has placed all the higher GPA's first. She said my letter will read that I didn't get in or I am on the wait list.I will wait till next week to hear something before applying to a couple other programs. Will keep you all posted either way : )
just spoke w/ dr. gurney and i didn't get in as my file was incomplete b/c of the criminal bkgrnd check. I called several times to reassure the answer, and recieved the same response that this didnt have to be done prior to acceptance. I spoke w/ dr. gurney herself and she was the person who stated that we would have you go through the process of paying for it and you wouldnt be positive of your acceptance into the program. unfortunate enough, but glad i know!! Good luck to you all!! I am so relieved!!!!sigh!!!
Thanks nursinghereicome for giving me the motivation to call dr gurney again. I called her at 5:35 and she actually answered. I asked for my status and she looked my name up. I don't know where she looked but it said that I didn't submit a background check. I know I did so she looked further and saw that I did submit one. She told me she would pull the rest of my file and let me know either way by email. I am so relieved. My impression was that she hadn't even looked at my application yet. So people who have not heard a response don't go crazy just yet. Another feeling I got from the phone call was that she might be working alone because it was very quiet. So we are just gonna have to be patient.

You're right, Kat. I do not for one minute think that I have been disadvantaged (wrong word) in any way but there are some people who definately will have a GPA advantage and disadvantage for certain reasons, as the example you have mentioned. I would think there should be a way to straighten that all out. I guess life isn't fair. Oh well.
I can't imagine they would have just a lottery for day or evening classes? That will be a mess!
You must be so freaking excited, Kat!!
