U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi!

I thought I would start a thread for those of us who have applied for the Fall 2012 Nursing Program at the City Colleges of Chicago. I have heard that they are letting people know on April 18th. Let's hope that's accurate because I'm so anxious to find out! Post here if you've heard anything at all in regards the the Nursing Program!

Hope to hear from everyone soon!

purple_gal2014]i was sent a confirmation earlier this afternoon for my seat at daley. i sent in my response thursday, i'm pretty sure poor dr. gurney is really swapped.

can you please copy and paste what that letter would look like? i didnt get any confirmation yet and worry she might miss my email.

Here is what it looks like:

Dear XXXXX,

You are confirmed for Daley College for fall 2012 into the CCC Nursing Program. Congratulations!

Dr. Gurney

Pretty short and to the point.

Hi all!

I'm new to this thread but I have been reading back a few days. Just wanna say congrats to all who were accepted.

I am unfortunately still in limbo. Spoke with Dr. Gurney on Friday and was told if she accepted me my letter would state I just barely made it, if not I would be wait listed. Happy it wasn't a complete rejection but ready for a definite answer. My GPA is 3.0 and my TEAS was an 82. Good luck to all of us that are still waiting.....

Good morning all you new Nursing Students! I'm very happy for all of you who have made it into the program. I wish you all luck.

It's time for me to start taking the next steps. I plan on taking more courses and get my GPA up so that I can be there with you all next year. Hopefully you will be able to show me the ropes and I'll look for you for advice on how to survive the first year of nursing school.

I think it's time for the thread to start talking about getting ready for fall!!

Congrat's!!!

To all those still waiting, don't give up hope. The waiting game is just brutal. I hope they handle this in a more efficient way next time. If 1700 ppl applied this year, I can only imagine how many ppl will apply next year. With that said, I still have a few more classes to take so it will keep me busy until the fall. Finishing 2 of my gen ed classes now and taking the last 2 over the summer if financial aid allows. I hope to get a job in the hospital before school starts also

I applied to the nursing program at Daley. On April 10 i started freaking out because no one had heard anything and the nursind department had no information. Wednesday afternoon one of m y classmates had been accepted but i still hadn't heard anything so i began to freak out even more. I finally got an email to my ccc email address telling me that i was accepted in to Daley's program. I wish you all the best of luck!!!

hi everyone! congrats to those of you that have made it into the programs. i need some clarification... now, GPA wise are they looking at your cumulative GPA, your CCC GPA or GPA only based on pre-req courses??

Hi Chicagogirl710, I'm pretty sure they are only taking city college GPAs into consideration but who knows?!

Some good news for all those still waiting...I called the Truman nursing department this morning and they said that Dr. Gurney will be reviewing applications the rest of the week. She told me to call Friday if I still hadn't heard from Dr. Gurney so that's good, I guess.

Great!! Thanx for the update marrajess!

Hi all,

thought I would share my latest frustrations. I called Dr. Gurney today and thankfully got a hold of her. I asked her if I could check my application status as I have not heard anything from them yet. She asked me a few questions: did i do my TEAS, background check, am I a transfer student? Well, once I told her I am a transfer student, she said that my application was incomplete. She also stated that she will get back to me once she investigates this more and she said this happens to many students. I became furious, called my contact over at Truman and found out that in fact my application is complete. I feel angry and hopeful at the same time. I hope that she looks at my app soon and I will get some kind of answer. My GPA is up there, above 3.5... I guess it was helpful that this time she was really nice...

Any comments, anyone?

Hi Everyone!

I spoke with Truman Nursing today to ask what the next step was for those of us who have been accepted. She said we should receive a letter from the director (Dr. Gurney, I assume) that would have more information regarding class choices, requirements, etc. She also said that the class choice would be a lottery and that there would be 6 hours of clinicals starting in the first semester. I hope we hear soon!

Do you guys think I should start another thread for those of us who were accepted into Truman's program? So that it doesn't get confusing?

Katja508: yes, please start another thread.
