Christmas Schedule

Hey! just wondered how your Christmas schedule looks? I dont have a Christmas this year. It totally isnt fair! My NM has me working Dec. 23,24,25. I am transferring to O.B. soon, so i guess i will just grin and bear it!

in my dept we work every other holiday (those being= new year, memorial day, july 4, labor day, thanksgiving, christmas). it alternates each year (if you worked july 4, 2002 you're off july 4, 2003, ect.) it is an excellent system-IMHO. i was on thanksgiving, so will be off christmas day, then work new year's day. applying to christmas and new year= if you work the day, you're off the eve and vice-versa. also, on holidays you are given the option of working only 8h of your usual 12h shift- but it is at the final approval of the coordinator if you do the first or last 8h. sounds complicated, maybe, but keeps the majority happy d/t consistency,fairness.......

I got all the holidays off this year! I have newborn twins to take care of, BUT hey I'm off!!!

Working 7P-7A Dec. 23, 24, and 25. I basically have no Christmas.

I had Thanksgiving off and will have X-mas eve and X-mas off this year. Last year I had to work all three of those. I've been trying to move out of CT for over a year and will be starting a new job in Maine in February, so having the holidays off makes it almost worth it to have had to stay here for another year.

That actually sounds right to me, at least according to the rules in our hospital. We have to work either Christmas or New Years (we alternate each year). If you work Christmas it's either 12h D or 12h N on the 24, 25 and 26. If you work New Years againd 12h D or 12h N on the 31, 1, and 2. And we are guarenteed 5 days off in a row sometime in Dec for our holidays. Also, no vac days granted in the last 2 weeks of Dec or first 2 weeks of Jan unless we find our own replacements.

Sorry, I forgot to mention for Thanksgiving and every other holiday all year long if it falls on you regular rotation you work it. No special scheduling for any other holidays except Christmas and New Years.

Man, I can hardly believe I see such lousey schedules.......We have always taken turns. BUT I now work one of those sweet m-f no week-end no holiday jobs..........but I remember it well..........

Just a question for you all, when you have to work the holidays, do you get holiday pay? or regular pay?

Thanks

I have to work Christmas eve but not turkey day or new years! That is why I love working perdiem no demands on the holidays.

Holidays are time and a half where I work. And doesn't make ya nuts when they say "I've got a family"...meaning kids. I have a family and my 86 year old Mum is .......well ....86! ( sorry...I have all the holidays off....flashbacks of Christmas past! )

Worked Thanksgiving 8a-8p....work the 24th 8a-8p...off Xmas Day...work 12hrs. on the 26th...off New Years Eve & Day

I work weekends all year long Fri 7a-3p Sat & Sun &a-7p and these hoidays are not on the weekend so I have them all off.;)Of course I do work every weekend. Where I work they only have 4 hoidays a year the 4th of July, turkey day, Xmas and New Years. It stinks I had worked at a state run in Ohio 13 holidays and paid even if you were off oh those were the days. deb
