  6. I worked up to 28 weeks and then the twins decided they wanted to come a little too early so I went on leave and was induced at 34 weeks. But... I had every complication in the book..morning sickness for 5 months, Gestational Diabetes, PIH, gallstones(had it removed when they were 3 weeks old), hemorrhaged at delivery and again at home 5 days out. and now.. good old Postpartum depression!!!
  7. They were born at 34 weeks because the smaller one was not getting enough food. Other than that they are both happy and healthy...

  11. I agree with NOT going to med-surg first. I went to the NICU as a new grad an have not looked back since. The NICU is so different from adults really their is no reason to start there. GOOD LUCK in whatever you decide to do!!!!!:roll

When our unit did it two years ago they found a critical violation when they did pt chart reviews and then went looking for other things. Typically if they can't find BIG no no's then they just breeze through. Thats what they did last year when they returned and we did great. Apparently our charting did not demonstrate a nursing care plan to them, so they went looking for other issues. But we fixed that issue and our eval was fine last year. But crib cards were never an issue, pain management is a BIG one and they go back up to 6 months of charting so if you dont have a good pain assessment documentation system now get one. GOOD LUCK!!
  13. I am a NICU nurse thinking of moving to an adult PACU any information would be great. :roll
  14. OH! MY! GOSH!!! We had a girl in my nursing school like this, she was caught cheating on exams RED HANDED and a was given another chance and another chance and yet another chance because one, her dad gave money to the college and two, she was on all kinds of committees. She works at the bedside now and went to grad school straight out of undergrad and is looking for a postion as a director. From my fellow nurses that I went to school with who work with her now say they can't wait to see her go because she is very unsafe as a nurse yet she made it through school and passed NCLEX and apparently got through grad school also! RUN!!! To your instrutor the dean whoever and save countless lives by not subjecting them to an unsafe nurse.!!!!
  15. Give yourself a break!!! Like everyone has said we all make errors. Learn from it and move on. sometimes as new nurse we are so nervous (hidden by misplaced confidence) errors are easily made. Get back on the floor and be GREAT nurse we need you!!!!!! Don't give up all that hard work in nursing school over one error!!!
