Hi all! I haven't seen a message board for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia 2021 New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. We can use this space to ask questions r/t interviewing, being in the program etc. Let's keep the conversation going!

Hi! I have a question about this program if someone could help me out! I am currently in an accelerated nursing program and graduate in May. Can I still apply to this program before graduating or do I wait until I receive my degree? There are already some people in my program who have accepted jobs which gives me anxiety that I haven’t even applied for anything yet! I have always wanted to work at CHOP and planned on doing the nurse residency program from the getgo. Soooo can I just start applying now?

I just graduated this May and wasn’t able to apply until the application was posted for May 2021 graduates. It went up April 12. It’s waaay too early to apply right now, I just started my job at CHOP and they’re looking for residents who can apply and start working shortly after

Hi how long did it take people to hear back after the second interview with the unit?

Hi!
I know the program is competitive already but how competitive? Does anyone know how many applicants they accept?
Thanks!!

Does anyone know if they will consider me if I only currently have my ASN. I’m enrolled in a BSN program and will probably complete it in about a year, but are they only hiring nurses who currently have their BSN?

Hey everyone! For those of you who already started the residency, could anyone lmk what the starting wage is? I have my second interview coming up, along with an interview for another hospital so I just want to weigh my options! Thanks in advance ?

It took about 6 weeks until I heard back after my first interview!

Has anyone completed the new hire math exam and can tell me how hard it was? I've been preparing with the problems they send us but the 100% score needed to pass is definitely making me nervous!

Hi! So I just got hired by CHOP on the onco floor with a tentative start date in May.

The interview process was long. I originally applied in March 2020 but due to covid everything was sort of pushed back. I got a call from CHOP about a week and half ago asking if I was still interested. I said I was and after being screened by the HR recruiter, they scheduled me for an interview with the manager about a week later. And I got an offer the day after my final interview. Since I have less than 6 months of nursing experience I’ll be part of the residency program !

Hi! I'm looking into applying to the CHOP Residency Program, I graduate at the end of April. How is the program going so far? How is CHOP overall? Did you have to sign a contract to stay for a certain amount of time as an RN after your residency is over? Thank you so much if you see this!!

Hi everyone! I’m a new grad nurse that accepted a position at CHOP in their Cardiac ICU roughly in the beginning of June and will be starting right after Labor Day. In terms of the application and interview process, in my case I felt it went fairly quick with submitting the application, getting a call about scheduling an interview, doing the interview, shadowing the floor and then receiving the job offer which really took no more than a month for the whole process but that could’ve just been the floor I was interested in and might be different for everyone. But let me know if anyone has questions and I’d love to connect with any fellow nurse residents working or starting this September!

Hi Ryan!

Wow that is amazing! I'm going to be graduating in April of this year and I am looking into applying to the CHOP residency program. How are you liking the residency so far? How are you liking CHOP overall? Did you have to sign a contract stating that you will stay there working as an RN after your residency is over? Thank you so much if you see this, and congratulations on your position!

I did a second interview, and not going to lie, it was hard. I’ve done 4 interviews across different health systems and my CHOP one was definitely the most challenging because the questions were not really centered around patient care. However, I got the job! So I think as long as you express interest and answer the questions the best you can, you’ll be fine! Good luck ?

Hi! I'm graduating in April this year and I am thinking about applying to the CHOP nurse residency program. Could you tell me a little bit about your experience in the program so far? What is the pay like? Did you have to sign a contract stating that you will stay at CHOP working as an RN after residency is over? Thank you so much for your help!

Awesome!! Good luck! I just got hired to start in April in their ICU float pool program. Are you interested in any particular area of CHOP?

Hi, I’m interviewing now for their ICU float pool. How is it going? Do you feel like orientation prepared you well? Thanks!

Is anyone who got a job offer on this forum still active? I'm starting grad school, and considering applying for a PRN position. Is anybody willing to share their experience as an employee? (Happy to DM if you're prefer). Thanks!
