U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everyone!

Was wondering if anyone was accepted into the March 2010 CHLA new grad residency. If so, it would be nice to hear from you and to get to know you before the residency starts.

I was hired on Dec. 22, 2009 to work on 6 West. I am really excited about starting my new career.

Look forward to hearing from you.

hi! i'm about to apply for the nov 2010 cohort and was hoping you could share how the interview/hiring process went for you. my area of interest is hem/onc and would love to work on 6 east. if you have any tips or suggestions that helped you along the way, pls do tell. hope all is going well.

All is going well, so far. The Versant program at CHLA is awesome. The next cohort starts in September. There are 3 interviews, one with HR, one with the floor manager, then one with the floor nurses (I think), I actually only had 2 interviews, but most had 3. They are the interviews where they will give you a scenario and ask how you would handle it, or ask how you handled a specific situation, such as an angry customer/patient.

Hope this helps...good luck!

thanks for the insight. glad to here its going great. i was also wondering if you knew whether they strictly accept new grads with bsns, seeing as i would have only my adn. i have previous experience working with kids and starting my preceptorship in peds.

Congratulations! I graduate in May & am in the process of applying for the November cohort. I was wondering if I might be able to PM you and ask a little about your experience. For example, there's a portion of the application where they ask for your expected salary. What is the starting salary in the versant program? I have other questions as well since I am from the bay area and it would be a while until I could get down there, but the program looks excellent. If you're up for a PM chat, let me know :)

Thanks!

I did hear a rumor that they would only be accepting BSN's from now on, but I cannot be 100% sure. I got in with just my ADN for the March 2010 cohort. I would try anyway. Good luck!

CHLA includes the salary in their application packets... they are very upfront with that. You can PM me if you would like, it may take me a little while to get back to you though. :)

It looks like you have to have a BSN OR an ADN with a bachelors in another field to qualify for the program that starts in November 2010. Also, I didn't realize I had to make 15 posts before I could pm. Could you possibly point me in the direction of the HR there? I can't find anything on the website and salary is part of the online application.
