Children's Hospital Colorado RN Residency: August 2014

Published

Just wanted to start a thread as there appears to be some from the past. Has anyone else applied for the August 2014 cohort? I would love to hear and keep in contact with other current applicants as well as those from the past.

Below is the program timeline for August 2014:

o March 28 - April 7: Positions posted

o May 12 - May 16: Select/notify applicants to interview

o June 9 - June 20: Interviews

o August 18: Start of program

For purposes of discussion:

o Are you from Colorado or planning on moving?

o Previous experience working in pediatrics?

o What units are you most interested in?

Hope to hear from others soon!

just curios on how the whole application process is going, after I finish school (1.5 years, i know long time off) I am consider applying for this residency program here. could you possibly tell me a little about the process and how it went? what all did you have to have to apply for this? what about your grades? how competitive is it? if you could give me your thoughts on the whole process that would be great!

Thanks!

we are still in the midst of the process so can keep you updated on that as it goes! but i would definitely recommend getting pediatric experience anywhere you can! whether it be something as simple as babysitting, camp counseling or working directly with kids in a hospital setting. also, volunteer! children's has a great volunteer program and you only have to commit 3 hours a week. i think it's a great way to get your foot in the door. i fear that it is extremely competitive but i think if you have mostly A's, peds experience and have your senior practicum in a peds setting there is no reason you shouldn't get an interview!

I'm from the area. Graduated summa cum laude, went to Tanzania to deliver babies and care for peds, did my senior capstone in the NICU. But I'm still not sure that is enough. We shall see soon. From what I understand it's extremely competitive.

I graduated summa cum laude, did some peace corps work prior to nursing school, volunteered in Africa to help out with the starving kids and passing out supplies, received an award from the president, and did some leadership roles as the president of my student nurses association. We shall see, hope it is enough!

State or school sna president? :)

Has anyone been contacted for an interview yet?

I think you both have excellent chances! Very inspiring.

I'm pretty sure people will post pretty quickly when they have heard.

I haven't myself.

I haven't heard either!

really hoping it's today! this anticipation is too much!

I keep getting busy unpacking after my move, and forgetting. Then I look and realize, and get all sorts of antsy again.

I've tried really hard not to get my hopes up, but resistance has pretty much been futile!
