Just wanted to start a thread as there appears to be some from the past. Has anyone else applied for the August 2014 cohort? I would love to hear and keep in contact with other current applicants as well as those from the past.
Below is the program timeline for August 2014:
o March 28 - April 7: Positions posted
o May 12 - May 16: Select/notify applicants to interview
o June 9 - June 20: Interviews
o August 18: Start of program
For purposes of discussion:
o Are you from Colorado or planning on moving?
o Previous experience working in pediatrics?
o What units are you most interested in?
Hope to hear from others soon!
Culture | Children's Hospital Colorado. They do behavioral type interview questions to make sure you're a good fit in their culture. There weren't many questions about clinical skills which surprised me.
I would just focus on getting references and letters of recommendations in order while waiting for call for interview.
You'll do great.

Do you know if they route everyone that qualifies, or weed people out still? I guess I'm just curious if I'm routed and get too excited for an interview when I'll have a slim chance really. Or do you think they route a few that they think will really fit?
I already have a list of 4 recommendations, nd know of two more I plan to be able to add to it, maybe more. Two have already written me letters that I have on my computer. How many are requested?
Not too sure how they weed out people. My status never changed from "route" through the whole process. Our group only had about 250 applicants for 34 positions. They interviewed 70 applicants. The summer group usually has about 500 applicants for the same number of positions. It's definitely more competitive in the summer with all the May graduates.
We had to have at least one direct manager and one clinical instructor for references. I can't remember how many references were required. I think it was at least 4 total. Letters of recommendations weren't required for the application process but I included copies in my nursing portfolio that I handed out during job interview.
I'm having some really mixed emotions! I feel all antsy and excited, but then scared about this week and maybe being called. At the same time, I really want to just know and stop (or continue! ) getting my hopes up.
Hope everyone had a great end to their semester (or will be soon!) I know my class had a great time at a classmates house.
Before I forget, if anyone gets a position and I am not selected, I'd still like to maybe meet up or something since I'm going to be in the area regardless. I really believe the colleagues and peers that are at the same level as you can provide some awesome support, insight and guidance. Since I don't really know any other new grads in the area, if you're there hit me up. Or even if I do get a position....
Hey All!
I emailed Donnya the other day asking if the timeline was still going to be the same as it was posted online, and she said that they will notify us by May 22. So I am guessing we won't hear until closer to that date. (But she just said "no later than", so I guess that means they could texhnically let us know anytime between now and then?) Hope this helps ease some anxiety! Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!

Thanks!!! I've heard so many great things and been so impressed with them over the last three years that my boyfriend has lived there.
Perhaps you have words of advice for everyone or suggestions, ideas, and basic input you could help share? At this point there's not much we could do to make our application get an interview, but any advice in how not to go crazy waiting, any ideas you had for numbers, etc, would be helpful! Thanks in advance!
