Chico State University Reviews

Published

Hi everyone.

I am planning on applying to Chico states' Nursing program for spring start. I just got my acceptance letter for the school itself, but have no yet applied to the program yet.

I just want to know about the school a little more. I wanted to see what everyone thinks about the city itself and the school, the good and the bad.

If you can just tell me your opinions about the academics, the staff, and faculty I would love to hear.

I would also appreciate what you think of the people and the city itself.

I have a tour scheduled for in a few weeks, but I really would like to hear what other people think too.

Thank you! :)

I finally have my packet! My name is not on my car insurance either and the closest labcorp is 2.5 hours away from me. I am also going to lose my health insurance once I quit my job and I probably made too much money this past year to qualify for an affordable plan and I still don't have my financial aid posted since I am postbacc. I need to know my budget!!

@k2115 I haven't even signed up for certified profile yet.. :banghead:

@k2115, you were probably positive for all 3 thats why.

Also for the car insurance thing, my mom told me I could just go to my insurance provider and just ask them to provide me with a sheet stating that I am covered and yada yada. So I'm probably going to try that too tomorrow if they reject me a 2nd time.

@Ceci81, Congratz! Haha. Is there a Quest diagnostic near you? When you sign up for Certified, they will send you a list of places that are approved to get your drug test. I did mine today. It was really awkward, the lady that helped me just made things very weird.

And Yikes about the insurance!. Better upload your current insurance quick! Haha.

I'm really surprised they don't show your financial aid now, I figured they do it regardless of your status.

@AB92, I would sign up as soon as possible. Especially because they review stuff and sometimes reject things. They rejected a couple of things from me already.

I ordered my certified profile and just uploaded my car insurance, health insurance, and cpr card. Hopefully they're all accepted. For my car insurance, I did what @Jennybewbs recommended; I just uploaded a document that showed my name, as well as every other driver in my family.

@Ab92 you got the professional rescuer cpr card already? What was the class like?

@Jennybewbs I took the CPR course months ago and it was my first time. Not scary at all. It was a four or so hour course and the class just listened and did hands on stuff with the dummies. It's just the BLS for healthcare providers card. Hopefully it's the right one.

Thats the right one. Was there a test at the end?

I took mine months ago but it was for lay responders so i just wanna know how different the courses are.

Yeah, there's a test at the end. But the course is so simple. It was my first time and I got all of my answers right on the test. If you listen in class and just do as you're told, the test is pretty simple too.

I see. Okay Cool

UPDATE: Guys it worked. Just upload a sheet that shows your car insurance that has your name on it and the other drivers. It went through for me. You know need to show them something to prove that you are covered

They haven't even accepted my application to the university yet. At the info session P**** said they didn't accept postbaccs to the uni until they are accepted to the nursing program first. I emailed J***** to ask about it and she said my uni acceptance would be done by end of the week, but it's still not.

The closest quest is also 2.5 hours away. When you search the locations by zip code it shows one closer (Fresno ~40mi), BUT, there is a giant mountain range between here and there and during the winter both mountain passes are closed due to snow. So it actually takes about 7-8 hrs to get there. It's easier and faster to drive to Carson City or Reno, NV. Even when the passes are open during the summer the drive is still about 4.5 hours to Fresno, it's still not a straight shot and the passes are windy, slow speed limits-- and driving through Yosemite is beautiful, but painfully slow, especially with all the tourists and RVs creeping narrow roads.

Carson City is about 2.5 hours north, and reno is about 3 although if it's snowing it's longer. The town of Mammoth Lakes is only 4 square miles. It's a lovely place but super isolated.

Actually, the only drug collection facility near me is the lab I work in. I do drug collections for quest and labcorp (and other reference labs) as part of my job. We have a labcorp courrier who picks up specimens Mon-Fri (we use them for tests we don't do in-house) and overnight FedEx quest urine specimens.

Did the list include drug collection facilities that are not necessarily quest or labcorp? It's probably against the rules to do it in the exact same lab where I work anyway.

And thanks for the car insurance info! I found the document with my name on it.

And for the record, I never make anyone's drug collection weird!!! Haha. I try to keep it pretty casual since I know it's weird enough handing someone a cup of your pee.

Ceci, it's official, you live in the middle of nowhere! Haha. Man that seems like such a hassle to have everything so far. But just wait until you see the list of places certified approves. They might let you go somewhere closer.

For my list all the places were quest.

How many scrub tops are everyone going to order by the way! I did 2 and one pants then ordered more pants from dickies for cheaper.

If it says complete, that means they accepted the paperwork right? My documents for my CPR, car insurance, and health insurance are all completed.

I emailed P**** about the MMR dilemma and she said she's unclear as to why I can't get the second shot.

But I think I'll be buying 2 tops and 2 bottoms. However, I feel like even the XS might be loose on me because I think I'm a tiny person.. Lol. Did anyone order their books yet?
