Chico State University Reviews

Published

Hi everyone.

I am planning on applying to Chico states' Nursing program for spring start. I just got my acceptance letter for the school itself, but have no yet applied to the program yet.

I just want to know about the school a little more. I wanted to see what everyone thinks about the city itself and the school, the good and the bad.

If you can just tell me your opinions about the academics, the staff, and faculty I would love to hear.

I would also appreciate what you think of the people and the city itself.

I have a tour scheduled for in a few weeks, but I really would like to hear what other people think too.

Thank you! :)

Yeah i did that but it kept refreshing me to the same page no matter what i tried to do.

Now it lets me on. K2115, did it cost you $119 too? The paper said estimated $99 but the website says $119

I have all of my shots to do ): I hope I can get it all done soon..

Yeah I paid $119 too.

AB92, ALL OF THEM? Geez. Were you never vaccinated for anything as a kid?

K2115, have you looked up the books yet? I tried to do the Elsevier thing, but it was super confusing for me.

Ceci, I looked up AHA prices for CPR, it's $65 for the course plus about $40 for the book. The skills session only is $55. I'm scared to only do the Skills session only, because I might mess up and fail and waste money. Haha.

The only vaccines it asks for is tdap, hep b, flu, mmr, and varicella I believe. That's still a lot to have to get all at once :/

I think we may need to wait for books till orientation. I bought one, the fundamentals but I'm going to email the person in charge of books. It's definitely confusing.

I'm pretty sure they give you more than once chance with the skills. If you need to improve on something they will show you. Just make sure you are doing the compressions hard enough. The dummies I used were computerized. Don't forget to say "the scene is clear" before you start anything. Haha. It's so silly.

I actually checked and you had to like do their online certification and then do the skills test. And it would be more than just $55. But I registered for a class at Red Cross already because i got a discount from them. Thanks though :).

I'm waiting to get a drug test right now.

I mean I did get immunized when I was a kid, but my parents never kept me up to date so I'm pretty sure all of my vaccines have expired or are going to.

@AB92 I just spent the whole day running around getting records of my vaccines from my doctors. Haha... All I need is the flu vaccine now, which I really DONT want to get.

K2115, I saw that they said they will discuss the book bundles during orientation, but on another sheet it said that Books need to be purchased by the first week. I'm scared if i wait to buy it the after orientation I won't get the books in time. I like to have hard copies of the book.

Can you tell me what they say when they respond to you?

I emailed P**** about buying the books elsewhere and not on the website, she said it was fine as long as we have online access and access codes. This really confused me because only like one or two of the books had access codes with them.

We have to get the flu vaccine every year at the facility I work at or wear a mask from Nov-March. It's now mandatory in order to receive Medicare reimbursement. It's pretty obnoxious actually. I didn't want to get it but I did because wearing a mask is annoying.
