Chico State University Reviews

Published

Hi everyone.

I am planning on applying to Chico states' Nursing program for spring start. I just got my acceptance letter for the school itself, but have no yet applied to the program yet.

I just want to know about the school a little more. I wanted to see what everyone thinks about the city itself and the school, the good and the bad.

If you can just tell me your opinions about the academics, the staff, and faculty I would love to hear.

I would also appreciate what you think of the people and the city itself.

I have a tour scheduled for in a few weeks, but I really would like to hear what other people think too.

Thank you! :)

Ceci81 How cute!!!!

Is anyone going to call the nursing department to see how many applicants they got?

I'm almost 24, so probably not like most of the 19-20 year olds, but it seems like they get a good variety so we will all fit in. :)

If anyone calls and finds out, can you please post it?

No kids for me, lol. I'm probably the youngest out of you guys. I'll be able to focus on myself and school, but I know I will be working part time. My current job does transfers and Chico has a store in the area. Anyone else planning on working while in the program?

I have a two year old, and she will definitely make it more difficult, but she's also my motivation :) That'll be nice that you can just transfer jobs.

Currently I work in a hospital laboratory and am hoping to do the same in Chico- hopefully there are some per diem positions open when it's time.

AB92, how old are you?

K2115, you said you currently live in chico right? So at least you wouldnt have to leave your kid, otherwise that would be so hard.

Ceci81, have you started looking for jobs yet just to see what is being offered?

I'm currently trying to find a job too, since my company doesnt have an office up here, but I found another company on craiglist and I called them. They told me what I should do, and told me to call back when i'm up in the area for an interview.

Maybe you could do that too! It's always easier to get a job if you have experience in the field.

@k2115 Hopefully she won't be too much of a handful during the program :p

@Ceci81 Oh, hopefully you can. I agree with @Jennybewbs; you should ask around now so you'll have a better idea of whether or not you'll be able to work while in the program.

@Jennybewbs I just turned 21. How old are you? Maybe you're the youngest. Lol

@Ab92, I turned 20 in October. Haha.

You are ALL so young! I have been keeping an eye on the hospital websites, I've found 1 part-time job available so far. I think I will just start emailing the lab managers to see if they are willing to hire someone for only 1 or 2 shifts a week. I just kinda want to know if I'm accepted for sure first.

@Jennybewbs Nevermind, you're the youngest. Lol.

@Ceci81 I know, I just want to know whether or not I'm in. I can't wait any longer. Lol

What are you guys doing to keep busy? Hopefully we hear before November. At least we have the holidays to keep us somewhat occupied.

I'm just working a bunch trying to save some money up for the move!
