how to write a science paper

http://aerg.canberra.edu.au/pub/aerg/edupaper.htm

I am in once again. I took Basic Chemistry last Spring and got an A but worked very hard at it. I haveto take Introduction to General, Organic and Biochemistry this Fall (the first half) and the second half in the Spring.

Thanks for the websites. I also have the Cliff's Study Solver as well as Homework Helpers Chemistry by Greg Curran. I found both of these books to be very helpful for Basic Chemistry and hope they will for the next two classes.

I'm taking Essentials of Chemistry I&II

Decided to change school and this is one the perks of changing...easier chemistry...and it stills the pre req requirements.:yeah:

So I am freaking out here. I started reading my Complete Idiot's guide to Chemistry. Within the first 15 pages they start talking about conversions. And already I'm confused. I get the example right but the practice question wrong, because the formula switched. Example to convert 71 inches to centimeter simple

71 inches x 2.54 cm = 180.34 cm

1cm

ok great then it tells me to convert 160 pounds to kg and I do it the same way and get it wrong. instead of doing it using the above formula I was supposed to do it like this

160. pounds x 1 kg

2.20 pounds

ok never mind. I figured out what I did wrong. Talking it out helps I guess. lol. Sorry. :lol2:

I know I must sound like an idiot right now. lol!!!

LOL.....that will be tomorrow night.....I just finished a huge Human Biology test today and so have a little extra time now that the stress is gone from that. I am sure I will be puling my hair out ith Chem next week.

Specializes in Emergency Department.

Count me in! This semester I have chemistry and intermediate algebra.

Thanks for this thread. I've got all the links as favs on my laptop. I've been reading previous Chem threads here trying to prepare myself for this class. I wanted to get my textbooks early so that I could begin reading the materials but they won't post the Fall '08 book lists until August - -UUGGHHHH! :banghead: You see, I really sucked at Chemistry in high school some years back. Ha- - -I don't even think I ever really learned how to balance an equation. I'm so ready and committed to this. I just really want to suceed this time. :nuke:

Anybody up to multi step unit conversions yet? I could use some practice:banghead: anyone have a website for that?

I'm in too ya'll. Kinda worried as well. I aced chem. in high school... but that was my sophomore year... 4 years ago! Plus that was high school chem. this is a whole new ball game!:uhoh3:

It's been over 20 years since I did high school chem and I'm not even sure if I pulled a b in it. However, I'm taking chem right now and while I frequently get confused, studying and doing lots of problems seems to help alot. I got a 93% on the first test and a 99% on my test yesterday! :yeah:

Hi everyone!

I'm in too! This is my 3rd quarter of pre-reqs on my road to fulfilling my dream of becoming a :nurse:. I am a SAHM of 5 little ones so I have to pace myself slowly (one class at a time). Bummer is my college just added Statistics to the list of pre-reqs so Fall quarter I will be taking General Chemistry and Statistics together. :crying2::uhoh3:

I am already stressing and my class hasn't even started! I have been told that my professor doesn't use the book at all...so here I am wondering what to study now in preparation for the class. I also know he doesn't make us memorize the periodic table of elements.

I haven't taken Chemistry for over 15 years (in High School). I have been working math equations but I have to be honest..the whole conversion thing really scares me to death. If you go the wrong way (multiply when you should divide)- bam :banghead: !! I have been reading the Idiots Guide to Chemistry and it really doesn't "stick". I also got the Cliff's Study Solver too. I'm hoping my professor is a magician and can enlighten me!

You can count on me looking to all of you for some support!

That's EXACTLY what I am always saying! :) Do so many problems, you think you'll barf. LOL That's the only way to overcome uncertainty in how to approach a type of problem on the test. Congrats on your great grades!

If you can afford it, the Teaching Company has their High School Chemistry course on sale for $79.99 (it's usually way more than that):

http://www.teach12.com/ttcx/coursedesclong2.aspx?cid=111&pc=Science%20and%20Mathematics

I love the Teaching Company videos for the way they boil things down. They are great refresher courses. I own this Chemistry series and once in a while I still go back to it to refresh my memory about a technique I haven't used in a while. You can sometimes find these videos on eBay or Amazon pretty cheaply, so keep your eyes open for that if you can't afford the $80 bucks plus shipping.

By the way, the course is high school chemistry, but it covers most (not all of the advanced ones) of the topics you'll see in college chemistry. I was fortunate to have a former high school teacher as my Fundamentals of Chem teacher. She was great, because she knew all the places where students tend to get lost!

Best of luck in Stats and Chem!!
