I am starting Chem II this semester. Anyone want to start a club???

Specializes in CNA; LPN Student.

I'm taking Fund. of Chemistry this fall. I'm scared!!! lol

I am so frustrated with attempting to learn specific heat problems. Is their a trick in figuring these problems out? I know the formula q = m x ^T x C. For example: 500 mL of water initially at 100C loses 48.0 KJ of heat energy as it cools. To what temperature does the water cool? Specific heat of water = 4.184 J

Any advice for specific heat problems would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm taking Introductory Chem this fall. How did it go for you? I'm kind of nervous about it. I've never had any chemistry classes before.

:paw: i have almost finished two quarters of chemistry, and it is hard work and lots of study time. i had great teachers who really helped out. i have uselfull tools for chemistry classes. if you are taking chemistry for the first time also use website www.chemfiesta.com

great for moles/molarity/word problems/nonmenclature, etc. i have helpful powerpoints for alkanes, alkenes, all the functional groups. good luck with chemistry, it really isn't that bad! :D

nice website! i use it alot too and if you e-mail mr. guch, he's quick to respond! big help!

Was there more to this problem than this? I have in my notes the specific heat of water is 1.0 cal/gC.

Hi ! I'm signed up for Chem this fall too - am more scared of it than taking A&P - which I hear is far worse. All of the websites listed will be a big help with chemistry I think! Thanks everyone!

I just finished the first semester of Chem. My strategy: get tutoring for the math, plan to spend major amounts of time doing every single assigned problem...don't skip over anything, and make every attempt to embrace the subject matter: if you fight against it with a bad or self-defeatist attitude you will sabotage yourself. Good luck!!!

I will be taking General Chemistry this fall.

If I pass this class, I can pass ANYTHING!!!! :) (At least that's how I view it)

i've been out of chemistry for almost a year now, but i'm taking the second semester in the spring...

i took college classes during my senior year in highschool, so one of the classes i took was general chemistry. i wanted to finish the second half of it, but by the time i went to sign up for classes, everything was full so i couldn't complete it. when i went to orientation, they said that the chemistry class i took @ the community college will count as the first semester of chemistry needed @ the college i'm attending in the fall. *HOWEVER* i'm really afraid that i'll won't remember as much by the time i get to my general organic and biochemistry II class in the spring, which is why i would love to be in a study group so i can brush up on previous knowledge. keep me in the loop! :)

I found chem interesting in high school, is it just as good in college?

i thought so. in a college chem class, they tend to go more in depth with the material. it's more challenging, tho...my chem professor was pretty touch and she expected us to know EVERYTHING. study study study when you're in that class!

Tomorrow is my final in Chemistry...it was almost a train wreck...they crammed it into 5 weeks, and it almost killed me! I'm going into the final with a 97%, hopefully I'll make it. During this extremely stressful 5 weeks, I've cracked a tooth and had to get root canals on 2 other teeth...by the time I've graduated, I'll need false teeth!
