Chemeketa 2017 RN entrance

U.S.A. Oregon

Anyone else applying for the 2017 entrance? I'm taking CHEM 110 and BIO231 this fall, and hoping to take BI 232, 233, PSY 201 and CIS 101 this winter before applying. I already have a bachelors degree which should cover the other pre-reqs. Do you basically have to have a perfect score to get in? Does anyone know more about it? Their information is so lacking!

Last year alternate 19 told me she had a C in CIS101 class. I am assuming all the other classes she had full points (which btw she got in). I was alternate 20 and the only one left who did not get a spot but the 5 points was a great advantage for me! The only reason 231 AP would be best to have a B or above is because it helps break ties. If there are others with the same score they first check the grades of AP231. If you have a C and everyone else has a B/A you're out of the tie breaker. As long as you get full points, you should be fine. I think there was a lot of the same scores this year. It seems that everyone who scored an 84% (i think is 44 points for the score sheet) were placed based on who won the tie breaker to get a spot or put in the alternate list. So, the common range of scores was around 304/310 (not including the alternate points) (my guess from what I have seen from others scores).

@rlargen2 How much in detail did you study for physiology part of the entrance exam? I don't know if I should just worry about the big picture of each body system or details as well. Any advice for the exam is appreciated! Thanks

Does anyone know how many alternates were actually accepted into the program last year? I am wondering how many people will be going in this year with the extra 5 point advantage! This forum has given me so much great information. Thank you all for all your posts!

I think they went though 13 out of 28 alternates. A friend of mine was #21 and made it to #8 by the time school started.

I expect only 40 students will be admitted again.

How do we find out what our current status is as an alternate? I was alternate #20, but I am assuming I have moved up, but I don't know where to find that information.

Are you retaking the Kaplan again his year? Or keeping your score?

I used Khan academy online to study for the kaplan. It is a way better tool to use than the kaplan study guide! Know your physiology! The kaplan guide has the break down on how many questions for each section, for an example: neuro system will have 2 questions, cardiovascular will have 4, etc. Really understand the systems and how they work to help answer the questions.

I know alternate 19 and 20 were in class the first week with us and 19 ended up getting a spot i believe. There was 28 alternates all together because we were down a teacher. If they are able to get more teachers than they can accept more students. However, two instructors are retiring after this Spring Term, so I do not know how many students they will be taking for the upcoming year. Most likely they will have more alternates in case they find instructors. 1 instructor=8 students. That's how they are able to know how many they accept every year. Hopefully they will have new instructors for the upcoming year!

Do you know where in the study book that it tells you how many questions per section? I see that it shows 20 questions for physiology but not each individual body system. Thanks so much for the info! It is really helpful. I have been using Khan academy so hopefully that helps :)

I thought it said in exact detail too...I know after you take the test it will break it down as well. Oh! I actually found mine saved on the computer!

Cardiovascular: 3 questions

Fluid and electrolytes: 2

Gastrointestinal: 1

Hematological system: 1

Homeostasis: 1

Immune system: 2

Neurology: 4

Renal: 1

Respiratory: 4

Sensory: 1

Practice the Reading and English with the Khan's Academy SAT one! it is a lot like it!

Awesome thank you so much!!

Last year I was alternate #20 and I think I I ended up moving up 13 spaces to #7. I was informed this year by health sciences that they are no longer giving out the extra 5 alternate points, so none of us alternates from last year will get them. After finding that out, I decided to retake the test in hopes of getting a higher score this year. Thankfully, I did get a higher score this year so I should hopefully be able to get in without the alternate points.

I think it is a major bummer though that there are no longer any alternate points!

Also, i Did not find the Kaplan test book very helpful for studying. I mainly used my old a&p notes to study and quizlet/crash course videos
