Please Help! NCLEX results on hold
@Kdevinva26 How long did it take after you did the palm reader for them to take your test results off hold? I had the same thing happen to me, except the pearson facility i was at told me I didn't need it (theirs wasn't working). I took the exam july 10th, got the email about going back to get the palm scan done today July 12th and did it instantly that morning (around 0800). It's 9pm now and mine still says it is on hold.

HELLLP! NCLEX results on hold
Mine was on hold too! I took it on July 10th. For me, it was because the palm vein reader was not working so I could not use it and Pearson had to manually put me in the system. When they got a new one that worked I asked them if I still needed to do it and they said no. So the next day, my exam is still on hold and I decided to email them to find out why and how long it would be on hold for. They told be the the NCSBN requires my palm vein to be scanned and in my profile before Pearson is allowed to release my results! So, I had to go back to the facility today to do that. No one told me, I had to ask. If it is still on hold, call or email them! I would've never known if I hadnt.

Chemeketa Kaplan 2019
Alternates still have a good chance, you never know. When I first applied for fall 2016 I was alternate 20 and it came down to me and 19 left and 19 got in after the first week of class. I was the last person who got to use the 5 alternate points for the next application year before they discontinued it (lucky me!) . For anyone who needs help with the kaplan exam: use Kahn academy that is online not the kaplan book! The writing and reading is very similar to the SAT practice in Kahn academy and it also goes through videos of A&P! I highly recommend! Secondly, DON'T GIVE UP! I don't care how many times it takes you to reapply, don't give up your dream. It took me 2 times to get in, and it took my twin sister 4 times and we are now excited to say we are finally graduating in a few days! Getting into the program may seem difficult, but just wait till you actually get in! If you have the drive and the mentality that you are not going to give up and you're going to give it your all every day, you will be successful before you get in, during the program, and after! Keep your heads high to all you alternates and ones that did not get accepted. This year might not be your year and that's okay, cuz next year will be! And for the ones that did get it in, learn a lot, work hard, and don't forget to have fun! This journey will be the greatest experience you'll ever have and you will learn more about yourself because of nursing school! Congrats to all that got in!

Chemeketa 2018
One of my friends from last year worked full time at the state hospital and did really well. He worked Friday, saturday, and sunday nights. However, if there was a test that monday he would only work either part of sunday or take the whole day off so he could get enough sleep. He also is married with 3 kids and he was the only one working. It is possible, it just takes a lot of discipline and motivation. It will poop you out though! I chose not to work during nursing school and I think it is the best decision for me,especially since last term was so busy! But, it is a great program!

Cardiovascular: 3 questions Fluid and electrolytes: 2 Gastrointestinal: 1 Hematological system: 1 Homeostasis: 1 Immune system: 2 Neurology: 4 Renal: 1 Respiratory: 4 Sensory: 1 Practice the Reading and English with the Khan's Academy SAT one! it is a lot like it!

Chemeketa 2018
Two years ago my score was I think 302.5 points and was alternate 20 out of 20 (the only alternate left standing that year). I got to use the 5 points for this last year and I retook the Kaplan. I had 315/315 that next year. I am shocked that they are not giving alternates extra points anymore? That was like the best worst case scenario for not getting in! I hope they continue with the extra points! It is such a blessing to have to help get you into the program! Advise for the Kaplan for the ones who have not taken it yet: Reading: it is really simple if you let it be. Let the reading passage answer the questions for you. Don't read the whole passage unless you need to get a general feel for the story, only focus on what the question wants. Math: super easy. You get a calculator, make sure you punch in the numbers right. Always double check your work. Make sure the answer makes sense. There is simple converting, story problems, fractions, percentages. It is probably the easiest part of the test. Science: If you don't know the answer, mark off the ones you know aren't true. Then, from there read the answers you have left and decide what makes more sense. Understand how the body system (whichever one it pertains to) works to help paint a picture and give you some guidance to what answer makes more sense. English: worst subject of them all. When asking you which sentence to take out or add into the passage, read the sentence before and after where it could be placed. Does it make sense? Does it sound right? What is this paragraph about vs the other paragraphs. Khan academy's SAT practice has english and reading questions exactly how it is in the Kaplan. I felt like the Khan's academy was harder than the Kaplans, but it is very helpful to practice with. I wish I could've have commented sooner for tips, but last term in nursing school kept me very very busy. Best of luck to you guys!

Chemeketa 2018
You honestly should take the classes. You will need them to get your bachelor's degree after Chemeketa. On top of that, Microbiology is very important to know for nursing school from my experience!

I know alternate 19 and 20 were in class the first week with us and 19 ended up getting a spot i believe. There was 28 alternates all together because we were down a teacher. If they are able to get more teachers than they can accept more students. However, two instructors are retiring after this Spring Term, so I do not know how many students they will be taking for the upcoming year. Most likely they will have more alternates in case they find instructors. 1 instructor=8 students. That's how they are able to know how many they accept every year. Hopefully they will have new instructors for the upcoming year!

I used Khan academy online to study for the kaplan. It is a way better tool to use than the kaplan study guide! Know your physiology! The kaplan guide has the break down on how many questions for each section, for an example: neuro system will have 2 questions, cardiovascular will have 4, etc. Really understand the systems and how they work to help answer the questions.

Last year alternate 19 told me she had a C in CIS101 class. I am assuming all the other classes she had full points (which btw she got in). I was alternate 20 and the only one left who did not get a spot but the 5 points was a great advantage for me! The only reason 231 AP would be best to have a B or above is because it helps break ties. If there are others with the same score they first check the grades of AP231. If you have a C and everyone else has a B/A you're out of the tie breaker. As long as you get full points, you should be fine. I think there was a lot of the same scores this year. It seems that everyone who scored an 84% (i think is 44 points for the score sheet) were placed based on who won the tie breaker to get a spot or put in the alternate list. So, the common range of scores was around 304/310 (not including the alternate points) (my guess from what I have seen from others scores).

@sbaker47 Congrats on the scholarship! I received an email for one too today!! I faxed my immunizations last week but I never heard if they received it, so I emailed them today and they confirmed that they have it. I can't wait to finally start! @sbaker47 are you on the Nursing class facebook group page yet?

i am all done with all my immunizations. Just finished my second TB screen yesterday, just need the CPR class which for me is on the 12th. In case no one knows on here: --------------- put up a Facebook page for us. Search under group for "2019 Chemeketa Nursing Students". So far there is only 24 students (and 2 faculty) in the group still... which I am pretty surprised people haven't jumped on it! haha I figured maybe some students haven't looked at their emails or blackboard yet.
